what happened to David Wright's power? the Phillies need pitching still.

It's the new ballpark. Shea Stadium was a much easier park to hit home runs in. David Wright is leading the league in batting average though, so you can't complain too much about his lack of power thus far.

You wanna talk about a power drain, poor Russell Martin has to enter that conversation at some point.

yeah Russell hit his first homer saturday,he is in a 2 year decline currently. man catchers are hard to judge for fantasy.surprisingly both bay area catchers are so consistent

Zooks is a stud, plain and simple.

The Dodgers pitching staff is by in large under-performing right now. There is really no reason to believe they won't perform better. They would certainly benefit from an above league average starter, but there aren't really any out there or that can be had for a reasonable price.

That's too bad, because as magical as their season has been so far I don't see them going all the way with Billingsley, Kuroda and Wolf as their 1, 2 and 3 starters :dunno:

Yeah he's really had a rough time of it. He hit his first home run of the year yesterday in game 70.

If Beltran is put on DL I think Mets will fall to 3rd or even 4th eventually. The entire training and medical staff need to be fired after this year. I don't see any other team having 2/3 of the team hurt or on DL at the same time. This is madness.

Yeah, the rotation is a little iffy in terms of star power, but all three of those guys are at least solid. Another possibility I could see is bringing in Jarrod Washburn from the Mariners, who would add another solid lefty to the rotation, at potentially very little cost (talent-wise).

See Athletics, Oakland. :(

Trading season is officially open !

Indians trade Mark Derosa to the Cardinals for relief pitcher Chris Perez and a player to be named. DeRosa's the player I was hoping they'd trade for and I think they got him pretty cheap.

Great trade for the Cardinals I think.

Great versatile player who will fill the desperate need at 3b and an added bonus of being a giant thumb in the eye to Cubs fans. :D

I love being a braves fan. It's just that since only a few years ago, the consecutive division titles we got ended. 14, in a row, not bad :thefinger

But it hasn't really shaped up too much since then. I mean, sure they've gotten some good players, like getting McClouth. He's been very good for the braves since they got him. But, on the same day they also released Glavine. I know he's getting old, but that was still hard to let him go like that. Same with Smoltz. He was my favorite player and he spent his whole career in Atlanta. At least he went to the Red Sox instead of the Yankees. It's still gonna bother me for a little while that the braves management did that to those two hall of famers. At least they'll go into cooperstown a brave

It's a good trade for the Cardinals. It makes me a bit sad though, because I'd be hearing the Cardinals were trying to reopen talks with the A's for Matt Holliday. Oh well, at least we'll have a high draft pick.

yeah the Cardinals moved on Derosa at the right time.I think Holliday's market is droping like a stone as he struggles here in Oakland but lets see if the second half helps him. oh and Oakland really needs to not sign a bunch of medical risks next year.

The funny thing is, Holliday isn't really performing poorly. He's just hitting below his inflated average at Coors, and almost everyone saw that coming. At this point I'm almost hoping he gets dealt for good prospects, because at the rate of his decline, he might just accept arbitration.

As for the injuries, I'm astounded that they are happening at such a high rate, but Nomar is no surprise, as the poor guy has spent half his career on the DL. Buck was placed on the DL really for no reason, (he pretty harshly criticized the decision to DL him), and all the other injuries are just really ****ing this team. Don't get me wrong, I didn't expect them to contend this year, heck even next year I thought was a stretch, but to be decimated this badly for the third year now is unbelievable.

I was in LA on business recently and saw Mazzaro pitch against the Dodgers. It looked to me like that guy has a ton of upside potential. What are your thoughts?

Oh absolutely, he's got tons of potential. Since the beginning of last year, the talk has been of how to get Anderson, Cahill, and Mazzarro, (MAC to those in the know ;)) up to the big club at about the same time. The biggest question for him coming up was if he was going to develop another consistent pitch. He did that with the changeup, and since getting that down, he's been practically unstoppable. We're going to be unbelievable as a pitching staff in 2011. Hopefully the offense follows suit :1orglaugh

holliday won't accept arbitration his agent is scott boras that's not how he does things. yeah some of the a's injuries are ridiculous, since they brought in a new training staff just to reduce them. the rookie pitchers really could use an al veteran starting pitcher to teach them the leauge though.

This is the same story with this team every year.I really don't know how anyone can be a fan of that team. They are, hands down, the worst franchise in all of professional sports.
