Mickey Rourke in Iron Man 2?

"After resuscitating the career of Robert Downey, Jr., the IRON MAN franchise is looking to do the same with another former down-and-out star. Mickey Rourke is in talks to star as the lead villain in IRON MAN 2 for director Jon Favreau. While no in involved with the production would confirm it, Variety is reporting that Rourke's villain would be Crimson Dynamo. There are too many Crimson Dymano's to count but the general theme will be that Rourke will play a Russian equivalent of Tony Stark who builds himself a nuclear-powered suit."

Why doesn't Rourke just star in the next Batman movie instead? He could play Amenophis Tewfik.

what is this stupid article talking about?

Downy Jr has been pretty consistent, in the last few years he's starred in 3-4 movies annually, with at least one of them being moderately successful at the box office and none of them being considered failures. Iron man was obviously a smash hit, but the only other film he has done that has achieved above-average success has been tropic thunder.

So tell me how an actor that has had one top-draw in the past five years, but nonetheless has stayed busy and has had no real losses on any of his movies in that time, qualifies as being brought back from a career on the verge of failure?

The way that I see it it is going to have no effect on Downy's career; it's obvious that he prefers to act in smaller production roles instead of blockbuster leads. The only difference is that next year Iron Man 2 will be another big hit, and probably his only one of that year.

Same thing with Mikey Rourke, the past few years have been the most successful for him, with Sin City (2005) being his previous biggest hit. if anything revived his career, that was it.

******?
I think it was Sin City that brought Rourke back from the dead actually.

I'm more interested in Sam Rockwell's villain in IM2 to be honest, as much as I like Mickey.

I think Mickey is one of the best actors out there today. Everything he does is so character centered. I loved the wrestler. I damn well hope he wins an Oscar for it. That movie really hit home for me.

Just as a side note, the girl he does in the bathroom does animation voice acting as her main career.

I really like Aronofsky, and I really don't like wrestling. I'm indifferent towards Rourke. Hmm. I don't know if I want to see that movie or not.

There are always bootleg copies, you dont have to pay but you see the movie in semi-decent comfort :dunno: Win-win

Now I would never abdicate piracy......although I just did, didnt I?

That's cool.

Havent had a chance to check out The Wrestler yet, but Rourke's certainly a capable enough actor to portray the Crimson Dynamo memorably. So .. yay.

Mickey Rourke was huge in the 80's. When I saw him in Sin City I was really surprised. I thought he had died actually.

Take a Hit, Spunker!
I heard about this last week. I think he's make a good villain in Iron Man 2.
