Mick Jagger

I've never enjoyed him live. Sorry, I don't mean to be a contrarian, I just don't dig this guy at all.

:dito: Ozzy Osborne too, maybe these guys meant something to those who were around in the 60s - 70s but I just don't see their appeal personally :dunno:

I'm a Beatles aficionado first and foremost but even I admit that Mick is the greatest front man of all time. Anyone who disagrees (no disrespect intended) is simply uninformed or is simply too young to appreciate the history he brings to the equation. In fact, Mick Jagger defines the very term "front man". Greatest of all time bar none. No other argument holds water.

...says the man whose name is "Jagger69"....

Therefore,I decree that any arguments to the contrary after this post are invalid.

Mick Jagger is still living...

You can even make an argument for John Osbourne, even Robert Plant for that matter.

But the best-all time EVER.. no. The best all time was from a group called the Small Faces, later with Humble Pie.

The late Steve Marriott. R-I-P.

Mick at his peak. Energy incarnate.

Surprise. Good to see Mick singing a bit on Keith's song.

And there's Bill Wyman... not doing anything AGAIN -- other than listening to Charlie Watt's bass drum.

If I had to rate bass players, I'd rate John Entwistle, Jack Bruce, Roger Waters, Ronnie Lane, Jack Casady, Greg Lake, Geddy Lee, Greg Ridley, and even Paul McCartney, way above Mr. Wyman.

Boy he sucks. I'm glad Mick and Keith threw him out of the band.

yeah, bill was far from the best, but he quit the group on his own.
mick taylor was kicked but told to say he quit.
best guitar the group ever had too, by far.

it was brian that got the boot.

Ahh yes, Mick Taylor ... The lead guitarist who replaced Peter Green in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers.

They have had some extremely good fretmen playing with them, after Brian's death...

Remember, the Ry Cooder "Honky Tonk Women" incident.

Bill Wyman was highly respected by two people in the band, one was Charlie Watts, the other was Brian Jones.

And Jones was the best musician they EVER had. ;)

I think he was just tolerated by the group after Brian's death.

And of course he's close to 75 now...

Funny story about Mandy Smith, like 35 years younger than him, when they married.

Off topic? In what way? :dunno: Take a look at the OP, John. It doesn't say anything about needing to be dead to qualify.

Like all of these "who is the greatest....?" threads, a totally subjective matter. Actually, I'd rank Jim Morrison above any of the ones you listed (Plant is right there too) but hey it would be boring if we all agreed now wouldn't it?? To each his own but I stand by the Mick.

I got kinda irritated when the cameras cut away to random celebrities in the audience half dancing. His performance was meh, and I don't really like the Grammys anyway.

Plant is awesome, no doubt, but i can't help thinking he ripped off Roky just a little bit.

^^Now why is this silly? You weren't even alive to experience the greatness of Steve Marriott, when he was playing to sold out audiences. He could and many times did take over the stage. Many people consider Steve Marriott great. I was just expressing an opinion that yes, there are so many other singers and musicians that are great frontmen. It doesn't start and end with Mick Jagger!!! :(

Besides John Osbourne and Robert Plant you have the late great Freddy Mercury and others that are quite good like Ian Gillian, Bon Scott, Brian Johnson, Marc Bolan, Roger Daultry, David Lee Roth, David Bowie, Rob Halford, Sammy Hagar, Rod Stewart, and Jim Morrison just to name a few.

Yeah, I guess you are right Jagger69. It is very subjective. :)

Yes I was giving you credit MP!! If John Mayall selected Mick Taylor after Peter Green left (to form Fleetwood Mac with Mick Fleetwood and John McVie). Just like he did with Peter when Eric Clapton left (to form Cream with Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker)...

... Mick Taylor had to very good. :) ;) :)
