Trust me, I ain't as ditzy as this broad. I did get my associates with honors, albeit in pretty much 100 level cakewalks. I graduated with my B.A. with pretty damn close to honors, in upper-level courses. Shit was a breeze, despite the fact that it was the most painful time of my life.

Truth is Americans do have better manners than many many cultures/countries in the world.

How many Yankees have you met? Remember, this country is something like 30 times the size of Sweden and there are very distinct cultures all over the country. My state is over half the size of Sweden but there are a ton of Swedish, Norwegian, German and other European Americans. Generally the people are very well behaved and show common courtesy. As far as Cali, I have no idea.

in can go either way, about the same as any other place. lots of people brought up in old fashioned irish, italian etc families, and a fair amount of hippy jackasses. but were also a liberal capital so that ups the ante for the manners police
