Mass Effect 4

The devs released some teaser images that ign.com poured over.

I like the idea of it taking place during the First Contact War.

Oh, Happy belated N7 Day

The Second-Hottest Man in my Mother's Basement
I'm reserved. I'll fully admit that I did not like the ending of Mass Effect 3, although I love the series as a whole. The problems with the third one and with the entire Dragon Age series has sort of made me sour on BioWare games as a whole, so I don't know how to feel. I hope with the new consoles we'll get more than a "pick a colour" ending which is more or less the formula BioWare has used in every game they have ever made, but we'll see.

The pick a color stuff isn't due to system limitations. They could have easily done different endings on the current systems but it ultimately comes down to time and money.

I'm probably in the minority in that I wasn't that disappointed in the ME 3 ending. It was just such a blast to play the entire series.

I don't want to get too hyped for Mass Effect 4 because what's been shown is so preliminary it's release is probably 2 years out at the earliest.

But that's when the next gen consoles will be hitting their stride. Ok, I'm so hyped.

For the EMPEROR!!
I hoped they'd do a game with Javik the 'Troll-thean, commanding his own ship during his 'cycle'.

Stupid primitives!

This is interesting news.

Considering the colossal cluster fuck that was the original ending to ME3 and the fall out from the grovelling follow up, I'm surprised they want to open themselves up to that kind of mauling again. Mass Effect as a whole world was epic, in 3 games it created enough worlds, story, history and lore to give Star Wars a run for its money. But then, they believed they could pawn off that piece of shit ending and ruin for many what should have been an immense ending to the series.

ME3 was an emotional roller coaster, from the invasion of your home world to saying good bye to your friends at the end. I still get a lump in my throat saying good bye to Garrus or sharing that moment with Liara, hell every time I play Tali is always my girl. I won't bang my drum over what was wrong with the ending, suffice to say it stank and to this day leaves a foul taste in the mouth.

They couldn't go forward because they fucked up how. It makes sense they'd take a cheap shot and go backwards, am I interested? Not really. Mass effect for me was Shepard, to introduce a new hero and expect us to care about them the same isn't easy. It'd be like replacing the Master Chief in Halo and wondering why no ones that interested.

It'll probably be some stupid multiplayer driven mess as well, something that Mass Effect did not need. Not to mention whatever antagonist we do get, how are they supposed to compare them to the reapers? That is a tough act to be the warm up act for.

Give us Mass Effect 3.5, Shepard wakes up in the rubble and goes from there.

They should've never caved. That was THEIR artistic vision. Love it or leave it.

You make a good point, how can anything compare to the reapers (the elimination of all sentient life). But the same could be said about the Death Star, yet The Knights of the Old Republic still managed to have a compelling story. I haven't played the other ones so I can't comment on those. I just think Bioware has created such a rich background for the Mass Effect universe that it doesn't necessarily have to be character (Shepard) driven.

Their artistic vision was a lazily put together piece of cinematic fluff that contradicted everything they promised it would be. It created more questions than it answered in more than one way. Again I shant list them here because I'd be here a while and its been extensively talked about before in more appropriate places. I'm all for someone creating a product, but an author doesn't write his master piece, tear out the last chapter and sell you 90% of his book expecting to call that a job well done.

Word on the street is that there will be teaser at the VGAs this year. December 7th. Mark your calendars.

Swing and a miss on that one. Shouldn't be too much longer before we get something though I think we will have to wait until after DA:I is on shelves before we get really into the ME4 stuff.
