So my wife's best friend started having an affair about a year ago. I'm pretty friendly with her husband so when I found out about it, it made me a bit uncomfortable but I decided that it was none of my business and stayed out of it.
Last summer my wife's friend came over and actually brought the guy the she was having the affair with her. One day my wife and her friend were over and we got into a casual conversation about the guy that she was seeing. She acted like, because this was some young black guy, it could only be physical and nothing more. She made it pretty clear that she saw him as a sexual object who she could never develop feelings for so it wasn't some big deal and, so long as her husband doesn't find out, she's not really doing anything wrong. It was weird because I'd never see her talk about race that way, but she made it pretty clear that was her line of thinking.
What was even weirder was that my wife kind of defended her argument. Not about the racial aspect, but that if it was purely physical than it shouldn't be something that ruins a marriage. I've never seen her take that position before and of course I started to wonder where it came from.
Last month I found some pics of the guy naked and pics of his cock on our PC. They were inside a folder full of pics from our last 4th of July party. I confronted her about it and she told me that her friend sent them to her. She didn't really have a reason why they were buried inside another album on the PC, but whatever. I could totally see her friend sending pics like that. There were some other weird things that have the wheels in my head turning, but that's a different matter.
Anyway, I told the story to a woman that I work with in a conversation and she told me that my wife's friend's reasoning isn't that uncommon. She said that are many White women who objectify and fetishist black men in this purely physical way where they don't feel that they need to worry about any emotional attachment or guilt for cheating. I've seen people make that claim before, but I always thought that it was bullshit.
