Originally from N.J. here. The accents are more or less interchangeable. If she was imitating in "Vinny" she did a very acceptable job at it.
Side Note: I've dealt 3 poker tournaments a stones throw away from Chicago in the last year and 1/2. I swear, they talk just like an SNL skit. I finally got to where I don't crack up spontaneously when some guy starts talking. Nicest people in the world though, and really good poker players.

If you haven't seen the Wrestler yet, you have not seen her totally naked (I think). She's shows damn near everything in that movie, and BTW, it's a damn good movie at that. :hatsoff:
They're from Brooklyn in the movie and she's from Brooklyn in real life. But don't be fooled, although her accent was damn cute, growing up with and constantly hearing the real deal is not a pleasant experience. Think Carmella from The Sopranos.
