Why the hell would someone allow that to be filmed? Maybe each branch of the military needs to devote some time to this in their respective basic training programs. I guess this isn't covered by common sense. None of the people in that video thought that maybe having a video record of them pissing on dead bodies might not be a good idea?

I didn't take it, claimed I was a conscientious objector. And it's exactly this reason we need people like this, I ain't gonna fight. So I don't see the logic in condemning or punishing these guys. They were trained to be efficient, morally ambiguous killing machines and when they achieve this you can't be sorry you let the dog off the chain. These guys are the direct result of the indoctrination of the "survive for a living" ... lay waste to all oncomers and pi$$ on their bodies mentality they were trained for.

One of my college roommates had a picture of his dad smiling and holding up a severed head of a Viet Cong officer. I'd say post mortem mutilation is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay worse than a little pee on some dead Gomer's useless corpse.

Exactly, this is not a new phenomenon. Bad $hit happens in war.

While I can't get outraged over the actions of these soldiers, such actions do provide more than enough ammunition to the other side for propaganda purposes in order to garner further converts. Undermining the policy laid down by those in charge of military strategy, with its need to bring about a sense of normalcy and to win hearts and minds (to a certain extent) which is at the heart of the particular branch of counterinsurgency they decided to put into practice.

I think this story is really sad. It isn't surprising given how awful war is and the reality of sending young people off to fight and kill, yet maintain such a level of morality at the same time.
