as to the mention of Prince, it's a bummer he's gone and more a bummer the way he ******... either alone and scared or alone because the syncophants and hangers on weren't really there to help him.
wasn't lucky enough to see him in concert, but i'm old enough Purple Rain had been in the theaters before I got into college, and my roommate sophomore and junior/ senior years had the CD. The Purple Rain disc rotated with Floyd, U2, Springsteen, the Beatles, and Robert Plant as we hung out in the dorm with friends. Yes, an age before MP3 and iphone... before CD changers, even.
And when my kiddos have headed off to college, i've sent the CD's I remember along with them, including Purple Rain.
seeing the tracks he wrote for other artists in this last week has been especially impressive... the behind the scenes, help others sort of person Prince was demonstrated once again.
i can't begin to imagine the pressures to use ***** when you're as famous and exposed to excess as Prince and other ***********... from the 'it'll help you be creative' to the 'it'll help you play longer/ better/ etc' it must be an almost inexorable push. And backed by money most of us can't imagine having the dangers of dependence and addiction are more intense. Katt Williams does a bit about it, and it's funny but there's truth behind it... if you have $20 you get $20 *****... if you don't have a limit...
all of which means i worry about those same pressures, whether it's about my **** or everyone's favorite sexy dom.
