I saw that earlier and now I'm kicking myself for not trying it myself. I've seen the commercials but wasn't really interested in the game, I should have just rented it.
They've been promoting the living hell out of that contest, and there were YouTube videos of people doing it the day it came out. 2K really angered me by continuing to lead people on that they could win that contest.
The guy did it the night it came out. It's been done for over two months. 2K said they wouldn't announce a winner until June, but I guess you have to give them credit for doing it sooner, although I will say there is a great deal of controversy over the contest rules. There are a TON of videos floating around the Internet of people throwing a perfect game, but they've all been spurned so far.
Every year I play a complete season, and throw 1 or two no-hitters a season, whether it was 2K or now MLB The Show. Out of all the years I've played baseball video games, I've only thrown a perfect game once, and that was over 5 years ago.
