I kinda' get the idea that batting .400 is a great thing in baseball as it is hard to bat a ball going very fast. The fact that .400 means that 60 per cent of the time you do not even reach First Base is not even considered bad at all.
I am having problems with the idea of players reaching first base though. To do so, you have to hit the ball and run to first very fast before the ball reaches there before you do.
But, I found other ways to get there that you don't even have to run and cannot even begin to explain how it is done. I remember one time a guy simply got off and let another player take his spot. I guess he thought the other guy needed some practice.
Then, I am reading this thing about really good hitters getting a WALK. I did not realize that 4 balls (opposite of Strikes) awarded you First Base as well. Once there, then you can get another guy to run for you as I tried to explain above.
Now, to add to the confusion, I have provided a LINK below to show you how 4 balls do
not even get you to first base like I tried to explain above.
It allows for a Round-Tripper-Touch-All-Bases-Home-Run
You figure it out ... I am going back to jump rope.
