Know Your Rights Before Getting Pulled Over by an Officer

ChefChiTown

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
Nice post Hellraiser.
Does anybody sometimes think of police as ticket machines?
I do.
I'm usually pro cop but in the states, depending on the state , county or town cops seem to be an army against the people regarding driving and giving tickets.
Do we really drive that bad?
If youve been to other countries you see people driving like wreckless idiots, but not more accidents.
Speed traps, cops hiding tryng to find the slightest thing to ticket somebody for in the states is too extreme.
and tickets aint cheap, plus the points and the surcharges and the insurance increases.
Its a form of revenue for many towns, not reallly about public safety, lets be honest about that.

Unfortunately, a lot of cities force their officers to meet a predetermined goal of handing out fines. If they don't meet their quota, that officer can get demoted or fired. Money talks, even when it comes to public safety.

As someone in a profession that has to deal with cops from time to time, be as respectful as you can when you encounter one.

I'd say that 50 percent get into the profession for the power trip and the other 50 percent are in it to help people.

It's not as if you have to deal with them everyday so when you do have a run in with one, make the best of it and move on.

I find offering the police a turn with my fleshlight generally appeases them.

If not, I offer a go with my backside. That's worked great a few times.

Seriously, everyone read johnnystyro's post (#2 in this thread). He's right.
(but I can't rep him, something about "spreading my manly love juice around." :dunno:)

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.

Good assessment. I'd agree with that.

And if you happen to be a busty, hot girl... :dunno: All I know is my ex-fiance never got a ticket in the whole time we were together, and she couldn't drive a riding lawn mower without having an issue. If I had sweater puppies, I'd rule the world! :crash:

County Sheriff with a goatee?

Every time I have been cited the officers involved had probable cause. In one instance I was driving the wrong way up a one way street. Busted tail light, etc. etc. But in every case I did nothing to exacerbate the situation by refusing to comply with their requests.

A cop in Omaha had me dead to rights on a DUI but by being honest and respectful I was given an escort home at ten miles per hour under the speed limit.

For every instance someone cries about abuse of power or brutality I can tick off a hundred instances where the officer involved are thoughtful, compassionate and even helpful.

If you wait for a cop to get a warrant for your vehicle and you really have nothing to hide they are going to tow your car to the garage and strip it down to the chasis in the name of thoroughness and because you are an asshole for wasting their time.

If you make a point of antagonizing someone who is doing a thankless job they will take every opportunity to fuck you over. When I arrested a kid for vandalism we got the charges enhanced because of gang affiliation; the window he vandalized was on a church, so that was another enhancement; he turned eighteen six months prior, so he wouldn't get off with a slap on the wrist and he had gotten out of county lock up two weeks earlier for the same charge. So the judge would see that he is a recidivist and punish him to the full extent of the law, including tacking on reimbursement for every window damaged on the building, which adds up to 25,000 dollars.

Of course there are assholes in every PD around the world but for the most part officers are considerate and conscientious. They get into the department to serve their communities and keep chaos and anarchy at bay.

I didn't watch that whole movie because I don't have 45 minutes to waste on something that won't work anyway.

So wait a minute, your talking about how cops are thoughtful, compassionate, and helpful and then in the next few paragraphs you say cops will get vindictive and spiteful because somebody doesn't make things as easy as possible for them and will "take every opportunity to fuck you over". Sorry, you can't have it both ways. Even more, because they are cops and are not only supposed to be held to a higher standard but also should be the better people in a situation I think what you said pretty much proves the very opposite that they are "thoughtful, compassionate and even helpful". That sounds more to me like being on a power trip and ruling with a iron fist in a velvet glove.

I just watched the entire thing. WHen I first saw this video a while back, I only watched the do's and don'ts of getting pulled over becoz the other 2 segments were not included.

I'm glad I watched the other two informative segments about how to act when cops harass you while your minding your own on a sidewalk or when you're throwing a party at your home.

Although I'm an atheist, God Bless the ACLU :)

is that your father? he killed himself wen he found out you were gay?

although it looks like that scene from banned in america, he was ross perot's advisor or something and he killed himself on live tv, fucking classic!

Hey dumb ass. My father died in the service of his country. Please do not reference him again.

The photo is of Bud Dwyer. A Pennsylvania politician who indeed killed himself on live TV. It's a photo I like to post from time to time when posters like you make me want to pull my hair out.

yeah i grew up in nj and we got all the phili stations.
saw that in my house after school with 3 of my friends (truth, we were smokin)
couldnt believe it, thought it was fake at first. I'll never forget that, they showed it on tv all day too.

Nothing like have your customer yell and spit and scream at you all day long to make you finally become a bitter asshole.

If your actually polite to them and respectful things might turn out for the better. Working in the food business during the 3rd shift I delt with drunks every night, weekends were insane. I would have to cops down about once a week to break up a fight or they would bring a perp back in that walked out on their bill. They would stop in around 4am to grab their lunch, I made sure that they got 33% off their bill, if we used them to stop a fight or something I would buy their meal, took the time to talk to them and learn things about them. When ever we had trouble they would respond in under a minute. They took care of the ones who took care of them.

We had one guy hit an off duty officer in my establishment, I was a wintess and called it in to dispatch on my cell. We got the guy for Tresspassing(I told him to leave before had), Under age drinking, public intoxication, assult on a officer, resisting arrest, and disturbing the peace. When all the kids had to do was leave my store.

Why is he banned?
