Kingdoms of Amalur:Reckoning

Anybody check out the demo yet? It's fucking awesome. I'm definitely buying this game on release day. (February 7th)

Looks and feels like a grown up, polished, not watered down Fable. Also a God of War feel. And for extra incentive, playing the demo unlocks some cool stuff if you buy the game.

I played the demo and liked it. It reminded me of fable, which I love, despite it never really living up to Molyneux's constant hype. Probably won't be picking it up in the near future though. I've spent plenty on games in the past few months (NHL/Gears 3/Forza 4/BF3/MW3/Skyrim/AC:R/RAGE/L4D2/blah blah I need to get a life)

what the fuck you lookin at?
never heard of it. I'll have to see if I can find the demo and check it out.

Cool concept,poor execution.

The demo had major audio glitches which the devs say aren't in the full release, but there's just something about the game that seems very remedial. Can't stand the fact that your character doesn't talk either.

In all,it's not terrible,but I was hoping for more.Definitely not worth 60 bucks.Maybe I'll get it once it's cheap.

Is there a demo for PC's or only consoles?

Played the demo. It's been added to my Q on gamefly. I didn't realize Darkness II comes out the 7th as well. And fuckin battlefield 3 was shipped today.

I didn't think there was anything worth a damn coming out for a while so I figured I'd add BF3 back to the list. Figures.

Bumping this from WAAAAAAY back but I just picked this up a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it. It's like a hybrid of Skyrim and Fable. I'm about level 30 going pretty much full finesse. There's a simplicity to the combat that I like but at the same time I never find it boring. Finished the House of Ballads and the Warsworn this past weekend. I'll probably finish the Travelers and Scholia Arcana this weekend.

I know it's not exactly a hot new release but has anyone played it?

It's been a long time, but from my memory of playing the entire game through the end and putting maybe 50 hours into it...

It played like a cartoony MMO that wasn't really an MMO, but tried to be in disguise. It was that way from everything to how quest were given out, exploration, to the way the open world was set up. That gave it all the shortcomings of a MMO game. Considering they were going to attempt to go in that direction before everything fell apart it isn't a surprise. The combat was too simple in my opinion, and the same thing ended up being done over and over. Some of the skills you could get and items you could farm ended up being virtually useless. I didn't really like the art direction. Different groups and factions seemed to be thrown in there so they could have some type of variety, but reasonable interaction between them like a realistic world would have was absent. Worst of all for me the plot was lackluster. Not only was it kind of meh, but the elements of it have been done many times before, and you could see things coming a mile off. Considering the big names for creative talent they had working on it makes all the worse. A fantasy, or really any genre, RPG without a good plot is a deal breaker for me. It's a big reason I play them.

It was just alright enough to not be bad, but unless somebody has a lot of time on their hands and has nothing better to play I wouldn't recommend the game to anybody.

Looks like we have different wants in our games. I'm still fully engrossed in it at level 35. I just now went to the other continent for the first time so I've got that whole region to explore, to say nothing of the DLC.

I see myself playing it for at least another month, unless I get the new Dragon Age next week, that is.

I really liked this game at first, but then it became a bit repetitive and I got bored. That was probably a year ago, think it might be time to revisit:)
