Kid sends 14,528 text messages in a month

Greg Hardesty didn't LOL when he got his teen daughter's cellphone statement.

All he could think was "OMG!"

The California man's 13-year-old daughter, Reina, racked up an astonishing 14,528 text messages in one month. The online AT&T statement ran 440 pages.

This is ridiculous. Does the father think that it's cute that his little angel sent out over 400 text messages a day? What responsible parent allows this to go unchecked? I'm not against texting, I do plenty of it myself, but when you resort to it to communicate with somebody who is sitting right next to you it becomes something that needs to be stopped.

I guess the only good thing is that she's not watching TV all day. God bless America. :thefinger

Looks like they're going to have to shoot her.

Some parents are just a bunch of jackasses. 14,500 texts in one month is outrageous. I bet these messages didn't involve any school work. I would ground her little ass so back that she would need to send smoke signals to communicate with her friends.

what the fuck you lookin at?
All he could think was OMG? Shit if I had a kid texting that much I'd break her phone and she'd never have another one! I'd think "FUCK how am I gonna pay this bill? That little bitch better get a job!!!"

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
The California man's 13-year-old daughter, Reina, racked up an astonishing 14,528 text messages in one month. The online AT&T statement ran 440 pages.

Hmm...

Half of me completely believes this (as people have become text-happy zombies) and half of me thinks this is complete bullshit.

Let's assume that the month this happened in contained 30 days.

14,528 texts / 30 days = 484.27 or 484 text message per day

There are 24 hours in a day. Let's assume that this 13 year old girl sleeps only 6 hours per night, leaving her with 18 hours to send this many texts. That would mean she would have to average...

484 texts / 18 hours = 26.89 or 27 texts per hour

There are 60 minutes in an hour, which means that she would have to average a brand new text message every...

60 minutes / 27 texts = 2.22 minutes

With school, homework, chores, eating dinner, etc...I find this to be something that would be damn near impossible to do. Not 100% impossible, but damn close.

In order to rack up 14,528 texts within a month, she would have to average a brand new text message, literally, every 2.22 minutes for an entire 30 days. Is that possible? Sadly, yes. But, is it believable? Eeeeeh...:dunno:

Either way, 13 year old's shouldn't have fucking cell phones anyway!!!

I believe most text messages include just "LOL", "OMG",...etc. Anyway, this is sick.

I got my first cell phone when i was 17 in 2000. :) Currently, i send 20 to 30 text messages a month, 75% of them to my girlfriend.

Do these kids even "talk" to each other? Or do they just abuse Mommy and Daddy's wallets.

THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY I'M GLAD I CAN'T HAVE KIDS!!!!!

personally i think i average around the 5k a month area.....

This generation needs to get a grip and get some real hobbies, man, at 13 I barely knew what a cell phone even was and I'm 22 now.

Take a Hit, Spunker!
If I send out 3 text messages a year, my mind is fried.

That seems impossible, but with how often some people use their phones I believe it. No 13 year old needs a phone, no kid should even be allowed to have one unless they drive.

i def agree with cartman on that one. nobody needs a cell untill they have their own vehicle. nothin else to say on that.

I shut that stupid bullshit off on all the phones on my account, and my ex wife was kind/smart enough to do it on my daughter's phone as well. I can remember several times while shooting a movie last summer, having someone go "I'll text you later", and I was look at them quizzically, and ask "Why? Don't you like the sound of my voice?"

And of course, the utter ridiculousness it's brought to written communication is just another of its curses.
