Keep your KIDS off of social media..

Exactly. Kids learn from their parents and it is up to parents to teach self control. They need phones and computers to do schoolwork. Kids need computer skills to function in a career.

Point being it is up to parents to decide for their kids, whether they get to use technology or not and what kids learn or don't learn etc.

So you're not only going to not let your kids watch TV, play video games, call or text their friends, and mess around on the internet, you're going to home school them?

I imagine kids would be better off without their Twitter Machines. Give them a Gameboy Advance instead. Nice cartridges with complete games. No new-fangled social media thing-a-ma-jig doo-hickey to worry about Jared from Subway trying to send pictures of his wiener to your child.

I'll just raise my kids however it see fit, not giving a rats ass to whatever the governments and society opinions are. I don't believe in anyone else having any say whatsoever, in how people want to treat their own kids.

Just so people don't get the wrong idea about what I said, I do think there is a time and place for kids to use modern technological devices and not just for work or school. There is a time and place for people to have fun. Some of the most fun I've had in my life is on video games. I probaby have had more online aquantences than real life ones. I just don't like the idea of parents using things like sitting their kids in front of the television all day as a substitute for parenting or as a form of babysitting for them because they don't want to deal with them. It's their job to know what their kids get into and place reasonable restrictions on it. There are just too many predators and con artist out there too not do so in my opinion.

During a prenatal class one score and six years ago the leader gave the group some sage advice: enjoy these next few weeks because they will be last time you know everything about parenting.

@D-rock - you were clear. Even I understood and agree. You speak the truth.

In theory adults should be smart enough to turn off the mainstream news, but many still listen to it unfortunately.
I get your point. MSM can be annoying to many. It is the non-MSM which really gets it wrong. QAnon, probably the most vicious hoax recently, was certainly not promulgated by the MSM.

"Polak learned from her daughter that the pressures of social media were driving her increased anxiety. The main source of stress: waiting for her friends to open and respond to messages and photos on Snapchat. "It became really addictive [for her] -- the sense that you always have to be on, and always have to be responding to someone in order to be seen or to exist," she said. "She would look at her phone and go from calm to storming out of the car, and the rest of the night, just curled up in her bed."

"My anorexia nervosa thrived off comparing myself with others and the unrealistic expectations created by social media. What I needed to consider was the use of photoshop and other editing tools behind the images that I allowed to control my life."

Are you an RSS feed for anti-social media news and opinion? I make this point in the politics forum and I'll make it here - just posting links with no opinion or thoughts does little to foster debate or discussion. Discuss what you're posting!

Really? You drive recklessly and go off road in winter time, onto a partially frozen pond - and as your car is SINKING - instead of calling 911, AAA, the Police or Fire Department - INSTEAD, you climb on the trunk, and take selfies?? o_O
