The most effective way is for parents to limit their own usage. Kids learn from their parents. [A not-so-pleasant kick-in-the-nuts reality sometimes. :))

Smart phones and social media are leading to more addicts.. "She calls the smartphone the “modern-day hypodermic needle”: we turn to it for quick hits, seeking attention, validation and distraction with each swipe, like and tweet."

Totally agree. That's why when I have kids they'll get nothing. No TV no computers no phones etc. It won't be fun obviously, but fun isn't why I'll be having kids anyways.

Hopefully I'll have all boys so I won't have to worry about it, plus I'll save money by not providing luxuries for them that they won't know how to appreciate anyways.

They'll hate me, but it's for their own good, and when they grow up hopefully they'll learn to appreciate what was done for them.

This concerning post brings this to mind:-

It's not good for them at all, also a lot of propaganda is being targeted at them there by billionaires and governments.

Good thing adults are not being targeted by billionaires and governments. Imagine how fucked up we would be.

Other people being concerned about how I'll raise my kids doesn't concern me. The sovereignty of families have been undermined by governments and societies too much over the years so that the family unit currently has little to no authority compared to that of governments and modern society.

The point here is that adults, unlike children, are free to make their own choices - regime children are subject to the rule of their parents.

You got all that from a five second clip of The Dead Pool? Go you!

Here is a strange thought, but bear with me. How about parents don't feel the need to give their kids unlimited smartphone and computer time? I always found it's not so much the technology as much as it is parents just being lazy and using those things to keep their kids busy so they don't have to bother with paying attention to what their kids do or being directly active in their lives, because you know that would take actual parental work.

Exactly. Kids learn from their parents and it is up to parents to teach self control. They need phones and computers to do schoolwork. Kids need computer skills to function in a career.
