Jon Stewart Retiring From The Daily Show

Ending one of the most venerable and trusted careers in making a complete mockery of the news, ****tewart has announced that he is stepping down as host of The Daily Show. According to sources who were there (some of whom are already passing word along on social media), Stewart let the news slip at the taping of today’s episode, telling those in the audience that he’s retiring. No word yet on when exactly he’s leaving, whether this means he’s ending his time in the anchor chair to focus on being a Serious Movie Director now, or just how much this is Brian Williams’ fault. Presumably all of this information will be revealed in time—and delivered by Stewart himself tonight on your television. We’ll update when we have more.

UPDATE: Comedy Central just sent out this official statement confirming the news, and saying that Stewart will remain with The Daily Show until the end of the year. It also says that the show will “endure for years to come,” suggesting that it won’t end with Stewart.

First Colbert, now Stewart. I can't handle all this change

Why did the name of the host of The Daily Show get blocked in the thread title? Can a moderator fix this?

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.

Johnathan Stewart

****tewart

John Stewart

It doesn't seem to like the one particular spelling. I wonder if it's a copy right thing?

As I recall a few years ago either FO staff or a Mod stated that early in the forums history there was a member who's behavior was so bad that not only was he/she banned but his/her member name was banned too. If you want to write Jon Stewart you have to put two spaces between his names.

I'm going to miss him on The Daily Show, however I wouldn't mind if the next thing he does is announce an Exploratory Committee to..... ; )

Re: ****tewart Retiring From The Daily Show

I'm going to throw a name out there as a possible replacement.....Bassem Youssef. He's Egypt's Jon Stewart and he was on last night's episode and he killed

I think Samantha Bee is more likely to get promoted to host.

Good for him. Walking away while he's still hot. That's a lot of time to spend pushing a terrible agenda and delivering fake news to retards who take it as gospel. Whatever happened to his tour-de-force project, "Rosewater?"

Fake news? The people who watch The Daily Show are already informed before they watch the show. The laughs Stewart gets are coming off a base of news knowledge the audience already has. The jokes wouldn't work at all if you weren't up on the news and didn't know what was going on. I watch the Daily Show because I'm interested in the topics that Stewart talks about and I go to him not to help me understand the news but to satirize the news and I know I'm not alone in that view

If I am not mistaken, in my moderator time, there was a user by the name of "j*o*n*s" (remove the asterisks), and he had to get terminally removed.

Judge Andrew Napolitano was on tonight's Daily Show and he suggested Jon run for the New Jersey US Senate seat. He's not the first to suggest he put his mouth where his mouth is and get into politics.

I know these are older posts, but as the thread's been revived (kudos to knowone for recycling), I thought I might lay down some facts to counter Ace's myopia.

You guys remember that study from a few years back that showed Fox News viewers to be the least informed? If you missed the study's breakdown, take a look - the research involved asking domestic and foreign affairs questions to people and seeing how often they got them correct, controlling for news sources that the respondants got their news exclusively from. I.e., people who only watched MSNBC got x correct, only Fox News y correct, only NPR, etc. The Daily Show was included.

On domestic affairs, people watching the Daily Show exlusively did better than those relying only on CNN, MSNBC, talk radio, and of course Fox (which does indeed have the least informed viewers). These viewers did even better on foreign affairs, coming up only behind NPR as the most informed (the NPR-exclusive audience was always the most informed in either category).

Stewart should thank his show business stars that Craig Kilborne left the show and rescued his career from interviewing B actors on MTV. Stewart is a legitimate journalist just like conservatives don't travel the world.

Jon-Stewart is a comedian and it's a comedy show, it's satire of real news, not fake news, it's supposed to be funny.

Re: ****tewart Retiring From The Daily Show

Jon S was a forum member who was stalking Nikki Nova if I remember correctly. That's why she's not on the board anymore and why his name is banned. He was a giant fucking douche if you don't remember.

On topic, I found Stewart entertaining. I realized he was pushing a leftist agenda, but I still enjoyed his show. Same with Colbert.
