Johnson & Johnson Sues Red Cross Over Symbol

Now this is more than ridiculous. They have shared in using the cross for over a century and now Johnson & Johnson wants blood? What of all the Hospitals "Holy Cross" being one that comes to mind and all the ambulances and other medic units that have used one. Medic helmets in the wars, tents bearing the symbol and nurse hats and pins? The symbol is just plain to generic in my eyes for this to even have gotten this far.

Whats next? Is the Catholic church going to sue the Baptists for a copyright of the cross?

This reminds me of a case a few years ago.McDonalds sued a restaurant in Scotland that has used that name for 300 yrs I think it was.In the movie Rollerball the world is governed by corporations, that may not be so far-fetched lol.

I don't know I always thought the Red Cross symbol was more or less universal. On the other hand I soured on the Red Cross a long time ago so I have a hard time having a lot of sympathy for them. Not only have they spent their money on questionable things they quit being just a charity a long time ago. In a lot of ways they are now a political organization. Now that they are selling stuff it looks like they are trying to be a business also. It still seems like PR suicide for Johnson & Johnson even if I don't entirely disagree with them.

I have two packs of J&J Band Aids in my medicine cupboard and neither of them have a Red Cross (could be a "local thing" as they were made in Japan for Oz, NZ and South Africa).
I have never associated J&J with the red Cross logo.
If I did see it on one of their products, I would thing "Red Cross" had sold out to them, the way they seem to have sold out to nail clipper, comb and toothbrush makers.

It just goes to show the good old, free enterprise, capitalist, market driven economy corrupts us all, in the end.
