John Madden Retired!!

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
A true legend of broadcasting....not for his excellence but rather for his persona. He redefined the color analyst from the old Al DeRogatis, Tom Brookshire or Paul Christman mold (braniac) and transformed it into a cult of personality. He created his own unique style that will never be recreated but is often custom-copied amongst today's NFL analysts.

That said, I think his timing is good. Pass the baton and enjoy your retirement, John.

Conspiracy...
Maybe now I can watch NFL games and not have to worry about that motherfucker drawing all over the damnscreen in the middle of a play. I'm glad he retired, never liked him anyways. Pat Summerall should be next to go.

madden was great. he only drew on the screen during replays

His name is John Madden? I thought it was Captain Obvious.
"You see here, they made a hole and the running back went through it"
Thanks, John.
Enjoy your retirement on your bus.

:yesyes: Agreed. He was just taking up space and WELLL past his prime. He and Pat Sumerall were the greatest.

Some randome thoughts--
Dennis Miller is a douchebag. He would be horrible to be calling games again. Tony Kornholio Kornheiser and Joe Theisman are also awful to listen.

I'll take Collinsworth as the heir apparent. I actually think Troy Aikman is the best football analyst working the NFL right now.

He was a very boring commentator, but he is a legend. I respect everything he gave to the sport. I will miss these sayings from him...

"BOOM!"
"Ya know what's great? Brett Favre"
