I am not trying to put anyone down either UberManX; but I guarantee you that most of the deaths in Iraq are NOT from accidents or friendly fire. And I guarantee you that most of the soldiers over their do not really know what they are fighting for. And who can blame them?

I'm millitary, and I think we know what we are fighting for. A safer planet with freedom for people of all cultures. Many take for granted the freedoms they enjoy in the US everyday. Also, look at the casualty list and see how most died. The popular vote and rise in the hosue and senate is evidence enough the people feel the same no matter how much the media trys to drill in your brain the troops are clueless and the war is bad. You may not believe me but many people in the millitary actually look forward to combat after having to train for it year after year. Not saying that means we need to war to get them into combat. It just means they arent clueless about what happens. Also, people that are in Iraq and Afgan right now "SIGNED UP WILLINGLY TO JOIN THE US MILLITARY" thus saying they will fight for the Commander and Cheif in any desicion made. There is no whining allowed when you join by your own hand. There was a time in humanity that celebrated dieing for ones country and others, it seems lost now. If there was a draft like Vietnam, then you could have whining. But there never will be a draft so who cares. Anyway good election and back to porn. :nanner: :nanner: :nanner:

BTW, If you notice which states voted for Kerry and which voted for Bush; the smarter states took Kerry, the dumber ones took Bush.
Kerry took the west coast and the northeast - obviously the intellectual centers of the country.
What did Bush take? The midwest and the former confererate states. The midwest is known for farming, not brains. And the deep south? A bastion of brilliance if there ever was one.
Like I wrote before. The people that voted for Bush would be: jerks, the scared and the ignorant (read: stupid).

Which ever candidate Bill Clinton supports, loses. And even funnier, since 1988, which ever candidate michael moore supports loses. And guess what, looks like both men are already throwing in their support for Hilary in '08. Who else knows this trend will continue?

About the military, you ask anyone who REALLY knows about the military. If the 'war' in Iraq continues at it's present level for one or two more years and the US continues to have no new outside help, they will have to implement a draft. They will simply run out of bodies to ship over their. You cannot have troops stationed their for a year (especially National Guard troops, which makeup almost 40% of the total, I believe), ship them nome for six months, and then ship them back agian. They'll quit. They did not sign up for rotations that long. They have jobs.
No, if this goes on long enough, the draft is inevitable. I don't think it will happen. Because George W. is not stupid. He will make sure the U.S. is out of their before that is necessary. No matter what mess he leaves behind, he'll never order a draft. Especially if he think the republicans have a reasonable chance in 2008.
And on the election. I lived in Iowa. They are some of the nicest people around (go Hawkeyes!), but there is no way that the average Iowan is as intelligent as the average New Yorker or Chicagoan or Californian. No way. Farmers go into farming for two reasons. Tradition or the aren't smart enough to do anything else. Farming does not require brilliance. It requires hard work and perserverence (spelling?) and dedication and other things but not brilliance. Funny, those qualities describe soldiering, partly, as well. I guess that explains why so many little trained minions are willing to go and do the governments dirty work for them. Are they noble? Mostly, yes. Dedicated? Absolutely. Believe they are serving their country? Or course. But smart? Most of them? Even half of them? Not a chance. The less intelligent one i, the easier it is to convince them to do something. That is why Bush won. He convinced the more ignorant states to trust him. And the smarter ones are smart enough to question him.

And finally, I am not saying all southerners or midwesterners are dumb. (I should not even use that word actually) I am simply saying that the average intelligence of the states that voted Bush is significantly lower then the average intelligence of the ones that voted Kerry. That doesn't make them better; just less bright. And less bright usually means more trusting (i.e. gullable)

I find it sad that you continue to defend your stance on farmers and people in those states being of lower intelligence. You need to make an excuse for Bush winning; well have you forgotten that Kerry also could have "convinced them" to vote for him. They could have been just as trusting to Kerry as they were to Bush as you put it. If they really were as dumb as you say, im sure half the crap Kerry said would have gotten them to vote for him. You cant have it one way, stop making excuses for his defeat. Bush won because he actually has the balls to make tough decisions on whats best for the country and the world. He doesnt need to look at polls and say duuuuuuuurrrr i do what people say durrrrr. Your job as president is to make tough decisions even if a majority of the population is against something. All kerry has done throughout his career is follow polls. Also if you actually looked at the County by County votes. All the coastal states also voted bush at a very high rate. The reason Kerry had so many votes was New York and Cal, both of which are libiral hubs. It was the LARGE citys in New York and Cal that voted Kerry. The rest of the states voted Bush. Im sure you can find the county voting map online. Practically the entire country is red. As for the war, we are making progress, the problem with being a civilized 1st world country is we cant just go in and wipe everything out. If we had that mentality Iraq would be pretty much done by now. But doing that would have caused deaths to many innocent civilian lives in Iraq. Hell, we would have won Vietnam if we had not been affraid of the USSR attacking us if we took over N. Vietnam. Linebacker I and II and Operation Rolling Thunder totally ripped N.V apart. We live in an age where we must use precision guided missles and weapons to hit targets then mop up with the Army and USMC. Also saying ask anyone who REALLY knows, perhaps you didnt read im apart of it. You also say continue at its present level for one to two more years which wont happen thus making all the stuff you say after that pointless. All you do is plan out the worst case scenarios and make that your focal point to attack Bush.

A student organization did exit polls from the areas where most of our students come from. 89% Kerry.

Some of them may have lied though... Because if 88% say Kerry then that 1% are gonna be like. Yea... I voted Kerry. Don't bitch slap me.

I live in the South and can honestly say that the city I live in runs on services. The main road that runs through town (which is about 4 or 5 miles) has the following on it (keep in mind, this is a small town of about 15,000):
Taco John's
Wendy's
McDonald's
KFC
Hardee's
Pizza Hut
Pal's (district fast food chain, sells hotdogs, hamburgers, etc)
Long John Silver's
Twister's (formally Dairy Queen, why they changed their name I have no idea)
Taco Bell (with a baskin robbins inside)
Sonic
Sammon's (hot dog place...w/VERY good lemonade)
Dominoe's
and that's just the fast food places. there are also about 11 or 12 gas stations, a high school, a walmart (they're building a super walmart...and a lowe's), a hospital, an old Native American historic site (Sycamore Shoals if you're curious), a couple banks, 4 Grocery Stores (5 if you count the new super walmart which will probably result in a couple of the local grocery stores shutting down), and not to mention a few smaller shops. it used to be based on a textiles. one plant called bemberg which shut down many years ago and another called North American Rayon which burned to the ground a few years ago. and remember ALL of this is on 5 mile long Broad Street.

so yeah, elizabethton is pretty service oriented. in the outskirts there are a few farms, mostly beef cattle, but farming isn't so big here. I live right next to a corn field but i think they grow it to feed the cattle.

haha, yeah. if you're in town and want fast food you've got plenty to choose from. oh yeah, and i forgot about burger king.

the funny part is though, if you want to go to a real restaurant (which people usually do) then everyone goes to johnson city which has all the good stuff like Applebee's, Olive Garden, Cheddars (oh, how I love thee), Red Lobster, Amigo's, etc.

hahaha, i just looked this up. Median Household Income: $25,909 Median house value: $75,000. that's why none of those restaurants are here, and not because we've outlawed "liquor by the drink" like most people think (which actually just got overturned in this election).

oh yeah, and bush won by a considerable margin in my area...getting back to topic.
