Job interview question

I lost my job last month and I applied for another one last week. I was called in for an interview yesterday with the human resources director. After we finished she went to see if the hiring manager was available, he was, and received the second interview right then and there. I think it went very well but was curious, is that customary to have the first and second interviews on the same day one after the other? thanks.

Sure, why not? It's likely a matter of convenience in a busy workplace. Why not have the hiring manager meet and interview you while they're free and you've made your way into the office? Makes perfect sense to me.

Seems like that is happening more and more...that it takes more than one person to see you to make an employement decision...I would say it's common. Probably also means that you impressed enough to not want to make you or them wait to see more of you. Good Job and Good Luck!

Is somewhere outhere.
Depends on the company but I guess in this day in age they can
do whatever they like.

I've had an interview on the afternoon.Went home for dinner and
then got phoned up for a 2nd interview at half 8 in the evening.

So anythings possible :)

I can tell you from the hiring practices that have been in place where I have been part of the hiring decision it is a HUGE step forward to get the secondary interview right away. The primary purpose of the initial interview is to separate the wheat from the chaff so a second interview right away is great news. Similarly, if either of the interviewers offer to give you a tour of the facility or introduce you to one of the bosses, that too is a very positive sign.

Good luck! Let us know what happens.

Yeah, getting a second interview rather quickly after the first means you made a good impression in the first (had you not, you would have been given the "we will call you" line). In my last three interviews, I was given two back-to-back. In both cases, I got the job.

I want to add too...that if you find the interviewer starting to 'sell' you on the company..you have impressed as well. Don't act like it's in the bag though...I've interviewed with a company that sent me to 5 different people and I swear it was just a process to talk to them all and I'm sure they compared notes later on similar questions they asked...kind of like a personality test. Any way.... Good luck again!
