It's official I hate Obama thread...

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
I hate to be that guy, but speaking from the side of a computer person, what is the government supposed to be able to get off of you with this? There's nothing there to take files off of your computer, monitor you etc... what you're signing up for is essentially providing the exact same information to the government that you'd provide if you file your taxes online. Now, I'm not sitting here agreeing with the policy, but practically speaking, there's nothing they can get from you with that site that they couldn't already get elsewhere. To be honest, it just sounds like a lot of paranoia without understanding how the computer system works.

A rational and authoritative post, Shayd!

I guess your take on this depends whose ox is being gored. If this program were being instituted during the Bush administration, you'd have all of the extreme left in an uproar. The big difference is that the "Cash for Clunkers" program was created by a congressional vote. The warrantless wiretapping provision to FISA was created by executive order....huge difference.

Interestingly, the whole partisan paranoid loop can be closed when one realizes that the Bill Clinton issued an executive order that authorized warrantless searches if the attorney general deemed them to be justified. The original FISA was passed back in 1978 during the Carter administration and remained in effect through 12 subsequent years of republicans being in the white house between 1981-1993, as it still does to this day.

Right, left, right, left.....your see how the government has us all marching in unison here?

F U OBAMA... you fucking kidding me? Taking our information legally?!

The dean of science fiction writers anticipated the arrival of Barack Obama and his cash for clunkers nonsense. As instructional videos teach people how to disable a perfectly fine Volvo to qualify to be scrapped in exchange for cash, here is what Heinlein wrote in his sci-fi novel The Door Into Summer more than half a century ago:

The guy's an arrogant know-it-all. How many "czars" does this creep have to have anyway? Well, I hope it's a one term, but I know we don't really have a say, so it will be at least two, maybe three if he ratifies whatever ammendment it is limiting terms. My predicition is this: we get nuked, go into WWIII, then he will be so g'damn charismatic that the American public will be force-fed his rhetoric about how we'll "make it."

For those of us who aren't sheep to either party, perhaps the GOP should spend a few seconds a month (at least) trying to develop some alternative approaches prior to 2012, instead of just whining and crying about what the current administration is doing wrong. Cause the last time I checked, Obama's numbers were heading down... but so were those of the GOP. Go figure. ;)

Its all just politics. Love it or hate it, theres nothing you or I can ever do about it. you can change leaders or change partys but it will always remain the same. They know the system and they know how to work it plus they are backed by extremely powerful people and groups so they hold all the cards. Its frustrating as hell but it always has been and will always continue to remain the same way. Its best to just look the other way and go about your business. If you throw out Obama, theres a 1000 others in line right behind him to do the exact same thing so why even bother.

Really? Which Clinton policies did you like? Economic, foreign, domestic - all of the above? Did you like Janet Reno and Robert Reich? Did you approve of Clinton's health care proposals? Tell us some of the things that you liked about Clinton.

I just like the fact that he got us out of debt.

I hate republicans and democrats in some way, but there also good in some way. Politicians suck though I'm finding that out in my young age.

For the record I was very angry at Obama last night when I posted these. Not the best idea to go and post something, but I kept reading up on him. I have no idea if the 57 state thing is true. Most of it was from what I read. I was looking to see what the democrats had to see anyways.

I have very different beliefs than most people. TBH I really don't classify as either (republican/democrat).

Can someone explain to me the different media markets though?

Google the 57 state thing. You will find he meant that the dems had 57 primaries or cacuses that determined who their nominee was going to be.Some are not states ,like puerto rico.Yes he mis-spoke a little but nothing big.

So much noise out there you have to know how to get to the truth of things and I think you have some work to do on that score.;)

What media markets you refering to?

So no feelings about NAFTA, gun control, foreign policy or anything else? Your primary political issue is the national debt? If so, then that's fine. But that seems a rather limited way of assessing a President, IMO.

And Clinton didn't "get us out of debt". He did build surpluses, which reduced the national debt, but there was still a national debt when he left office.

Ugh, I wish I could go out of the United States to get the truth. I'm really sick of how misleading the media can be.

Cnn, fox, and etc. How do they work? Politically

Are you serious with that. He was joking. He was making the point that he'd been all over the country back and forth for the last several months so he joked with the comment "I've been to like what? 57 states by now."

It was a frikin' joke. And it was funny.

I just want a normal way of life again. Why go to school and graduate when I know jobs are hurting?

You're not majoring in Economics, are you? I'm not trying to be funny. But I believe it might do you some good to take at least take Econ 101, or maybe just a History of Economics course. The economy does, and has always moved in cycles. In other words, no economic condition lasts forever.

If the end of capitalism was upon us, its safe to assume that I probably have a lot more to lose than you do. And I'm not exactly trembling here. As for having a "normal life" (whatever that is), again, that's really up to you to build. But if you can't define your goals some time pretty soon (and it seems you can't quite do that yet), you're just floating without a rudder. Only the nanny state that many want, and many fear, could help you with that.

By 18, I knew I wanted to major in Economics. By 20, I was interning at a major bank. By 21, I was buying real estate no money down. By 22, I was managing a mortgage company. I did pay attention to the macro fiscal and monetary policies of the day. But I didn't sit around worrying and thinking that anyone had the power to slow me down, and they certainly didn't have the power to stop me (unless they shot me in the head). And I ain't dead yet. :)

Don't take offense, because this isn't just meant for you. But another saying that my grandfather handed me when I was in a period of personal struggle: the same heat that melts butter, tempers steel. You just have to figure out which one you are. :hatsoff:

fuck no I'm going to school for food science.

I'm not an expert or close to it in politics. I want to be able to go out and do things, but everything is so expensive. Good post

So you think I'm just over worrying then?

Either you live life or it will live you. Worrying has never done me any good. If it's a troublesome situation that I can do something about, I do something about it. If it's outside of my control, as long as it can't eat me or kill me, fuck it. If it can eat me or kill me, hopefully I'm carrying my Glock. If not, guess it's me that's fucked. Eh well, gotta go sooner or later. :dunno:

Food science. I'm not really sure what that is. What does that lead to, like developing flavors for major food companies, or maybe what McDonalds does in deciding what people in different markets prefer? Do you want to own a resturant down the road? Seriously, sneek in a business course. You won't be sorry.

I'm not exactly sure how wide my options are, but I plan on developing foods for companies then starting my own business if I can figure out something that works for my own.

Conventinal wisdom is Fox far right,MSNBC far left,CNN in between called liberal by some.

But some call all media but fox liberal.I don't agree with that.Even MSNBC is owned by GE .Corporations own all of it is my point. They aint liberal.

We are at the point IMO that anything almost not on the far right is called liberal bias.

Ok I will accept your explanation.Don't see the joke really though. But eithier way it was nothing and the right was spouting BS when they tried to make something out of it.

Then you either need to also be taking business/econ courses now, or you need to start looking to make an MBA candidate your best friend.

Screw that, just marry a rich girl. Dad will set you up. :D

I've thought about marrying a rich girl, but she'd only be into me for my body. I need a real chick.

My buddy is getting a business degree. That's kind of our plan. Your words of wisdom make me feel better.

Just wondering what happens if we into too much debt?

It's called a monopoly. Rupert Murdoch's company News Corp. almost has one already - he owns FOX news, 20th Cent. FOX movie and TV studio and a third of DirecTV in addition to the NY Post and MySpace.

BTW, I'm still waiting to see Barrak's birth certificate. As long as his grandmother said he was "born in Kenya," I have to believe her.
