Is there a way you can prevent your posts from appearing in google search?

It wasn't there, then like two minutes later it was. Was it brought back or something?

I believe they just added it bro, and us night owls in the U.S. got to see it....the fine folks in Europe are already at work :)

I can change his name. That may or may not do any good depending on Google.

In order for it to change in their search index, they have to crawl the pages on this board. The less traffic a page gets, the less likely they are to crawl the pages anytime soon.

To highlight this problem...I get playboy girls who have a porn stage name but use their real names for their playboy and other mainstream work emailing us all the time. They're upset that people on this board are really a lot more intelligent than the common slug and put 2+2 together and want me to delete posts, edit them, etc, etc.

IF I actually do this, the info tends to stay around at least 6 months even though it's changed/deleted in our database. There's one chick who still can see the google results of her real name on our board and I deleted those posts well over a year and a half ago.

And people don't believe me when I tell them Google is the devil...

I can't say I have a lot of sympathy for them. By now anybody with half a brain has to know there are no secrets on the Internet, and once something is out it's pretty much almost always out there forever. Not counting the fact once they use their real name in something that's published in that vast of an amount that it's pretty much considered common and public knowledge by that point. I could also mention the fact all it takes is one poster or another source from somewhere else to tell the rest of the world any information that was deleted and the whole thing pretty much become moot, except for the people that have to uselessly do increasing amounts of work to try and get the information gone.

You can do what he who shall not be named did and get FreeOnes to remove all of your posts after you've closed your account.

I've always wondered how he who shall not be named did that, did he threaten legal action or something? Or is that just an option given to someone upon their time of judgement....

Who knows. Who cares? THAT'S the question!

To be brutally honest I think the artistformerlyknownasFox got treatment better than he should have. It's even worse when you consider all the people that didn't like him on the board. Maybe the powers that be were just happy enough to get rid of him.

I think I explained this somewhere before. Fox asked, I did, I got yelled at by FreeOnes, and the policy that we do not delete any accounts that have 5 or more posts came into effect. We also don't delete posts without good reason.

Not a very exciting story, is it?

I was just curious if there was any way that you can prevent your posts from showing up in google search (like when someone searches for your screen name for example on google) thanks for the help :)

You can't prevent anything from getting onto the gaggle database as far as I know, OTOH, you can make yourself ''less visible''. You Might want to change your board name to ''Mr. Smith'' and try to refrain from getting involved in unique topics for starters. Also, don't try to stand out in the crowd by using ''big words'', keep a low profile by using basic 3rd grade level vocabulary . .
if that's your thing. :dunno:

Me, I just stay locked & loaded :ak47:

:hatsoff:
