Is Rodney Peete the greatest quaterback in history?

He, of all people, married Holly Robinson.

And it's not even like he was a star.

he has a point...

Hell, you guys are all full of shit. Anybody who knows football knows that the best back up QB ever was Eugene Graborski. You may not recognize the name but those of us who REALLY know football do.

For a while here we were lucky enough to be graced by his presence. He used to post on here under the screen name of .....HOTROD11INCHES.

i dont know who he is. but i couldnt find any football info on him. i did see something that mentioned he player soccer i think for the us olympics back in 50 throught 1960. and it also mentioned that he had passed away.

Personally. I never judge a QB by how many TD's they throw. I judge them on their quarterback rating. A would rather have a QB that throw 20 TD's a year and 5 Interceptions. Then one that throws 50 TD's per year and throws 40 Interceptions.

In football, the only thing that should matter, especially with a QB, is wins. More important, Super Bowl wins. Tom Brady has 3 rings in 4 years.

Peyton is one of the best because of how smart he is, and how he calls a game (the best for that in a while IMO). But when the shit is on the line, Brady has stepped up, while fools like McNabb have chocked (4 times in a row).

I agree, Sanchez. I think Michael Vick is the same way- flashy, but needs to develop the vision and poise to become a great quarterback. Not always in such a hurry to run and take flight from the pocket.

Ok, you told us that you thought he was the greatest quarterback ever, but can you tell us why you think that way. I'm curious.

Even most Lion fans hope to never hear his name again. I sort of liked him though. While living in Michigan and not being a Lions fan I could always point up at the screen and laugh at them. Of course they could always counter telling me I was a Bears fan and they were just as bad. Does anybody remember Rodney was with Detroit and they had three lousy QB that they couldn’t decide on? Those were the days.

Remember those days all to well with Andre Ware, Chuck Long... Mitchell saved us a for a few years and one playoff win...

With the salary cap very few teams can afford a great backup, Billy Volek is not a bad one

I don't agree, an individual player’s ability shouldn't be based on a team's accomplishments, especially in (American)football where it harder to separate who should deserve what credit on a play, unlike in other sports like baseball. If you just went by Superbowl wins Kerry Colins would be better than Dan Marino.

A quick scan of my memory say's that both Colins and Marino are on the same level because neither has a ring (I thought Colins and the Giants lost to the Ravens and Trent Dilfer). You do make a good point though.

However, in their prime's (well, that would be now for TB), who would you rather have walking into a championship game; Marino or Brady? Montana or Marino? Elway of McNabb?

Point is, as great of a career Marino had, his inability to win a Championship will always hang over his head, and I'm worried the same will be said about Peyton Manning.

Marino over Brady
Montana over Marino
Elway over McNabb
Payton over Brady

In fact everybody above with the possible exception of McNabb I would choose over Brady.

About Kerry Collins, I thought he was with the Ravens the year he won. If he wasn't, just substitute whoever was that year in his place, or the person who won with Tampa Bay a few years ago. I wouldn’t think they were better than Marino and Jim Kelly just because they have never won a Superbowl.

You are thinking of Trent Dilfer of the Ravens, Kerry lost the Super Bowl with the Giants against them..

rodney pete!!! i think this guy made this thread to offend all football fans. what are you thinking buddy. I saw a post in reply to this that said "smoke another one buddy", but i dont think marijuana can make someone this stupid. Every modern day started is better than him, maybe even all modern day back ups. How old is he, did he retire? He was and Eagles back up a while back, before the Mcnab era, and he sucked real bad and that was his prime......dude mail me some of whatever your on..

For some reason, when I think of great quarterbacks, Rodney Peete "Moss" does not get into my list. Guys like Troy Aikman, Brett Farve, Joe Montana, Tom Brady, Johnny Unitas, Bart Star, Joe Namath, Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, John Elway, Roger Stabauch, Kenny "Snake" Stabler, Terry Bradshaw, Fran Tarkington, Warren Moon, Joe Montana come to mind. I'm not even sure who Peete "Moss" played for. But, that is only my opinion and not meant to put down the opinion of others.
