Is Porn Wrong?

Many people on this board know me and some of the older members know that I prefer still-pictures of posing women over hardcore sex pictures or movies.

I recently saw this Law and Order: SVU show (I know TV isn't real...) and it really made me think that THIS was exactly the reason why I don't like to watch stuff like that.

I wanted to have a discussion on Why some of us like to watch sex and why some of us just prefer still pictures of non-sexual acts.

Im very much pro-Freeones and whatever he wants to do. And Im not against anyone elses opinions. Im just sincerely curious about what you think is the reason you like to watch sex.

I think the main reason i enjoy porn is because....well thats hard to answer. I like the women and the sex. It just appeals to me. It has interested me since i was a little kid.

Thanks for replying... but Im kinda looking for a more deep reason.

Morals and such... I dunno. Can you see pictures and get the same reaction? Does it have to be a movie or sex?

I think porn is fine as long as the performers invloved are comfortable with what they are doing...i have noticed a trend though in porn recently that it is bordering on porn/violence and some websites degrad woman a bit more than they should...and saying that i sometimes enjoy those website...I watch porn and enjoy porn for the same reason i thin k everyone else does its an escape and its a fantasy...i think some of the women in porn are absolutly gorgeous and could be doing modeling but they are doing what they seem to enjoy...now there is some sick shit out there like shitting and beastialy and i have no idea how people can enjoy that imo...I find sometimes teasing to be sexy as hell like if a girl has her clothes on it leave something to the imagination and when she takes off her clothes its like ...next...that why i think a girl like Next door Nikki continues to have fame..i think the minute she goes naked it will be like next...it all depends on my mood really sometimes hard-core is what i crave...either way i think this will be an intersting thread

For me porn is a release. It really does relieve tension to rub one out, and it's a bit of an addiction. I'm married, yet I have the soul of a slut. So porn allows me to live out my fantasies without being with another woman.

Someone on here posted an advice column, web page, and it described it very well. Sometimes jerkin is better then sex, or at least satisfying in a different way. Do I think it's wrong, not necessarily. I don't think of it as morally wrong, but that may be because I don't want to think of my own actions as immoral.

Goblin, what was said about porn in the Law And Order episode?

If you ask a "morally upright" person, they will say that pics and vids are the same - bad.
I enjoy the vids and pics because of the women.
The argument that porn causes sex crimes, IMO, is not true. A person who commits a crime, whatever it may be, has a little something wrong with their brain. What I mean by that is a normal person would not think of raping or killing anyone, but a rapist and murderer DO THINK about it and actually follow through. I have not seen one sex scene that has made me want to go out and violate some girl or kill that girl after I had my way with her.
Porn is good - if you come often using it, it actually helps your prostate.

I don't believe porn is inherently wrong. If everyone involved in whatever it is, be it "Barely Pornographic 3" or "Golden-Shower Grannies 6", do it out of their own free will, then I'm okay with it. I mean, the latter one makes me feel a bit sick just thinking about the title, but if it floats your boat, go for it. Just, you know, don't ever show me that video. Or mention the title so that I can hear it. If you don't like it, stay away from it and let those who do like it watch it in peace.

That being said, I believe that in unhealthy doses, exposure to porn can be harmful, especially to minors (this is of course true about most things, including violence, alcohol etc.). This should ideally be regulated better, although I doubt it's possible with the Internet today. I do think that easy acccess to a nearly unlimited amount of nearly any kind of porn imaginable is a bad thing, because it does result in mental problems and addiction for some, much like gambling. I'm more inclined to believe that restraint and proper parenting is the solution rather than trying to have it banned,

I didn't want to say what happened in the episode unless asked. I'll message you with it though. It was just disturbing and showed how some people get enticed into the industry when it really isn't something they may realize they want at the moment.

Im sure everyone knows the stereotypical teen that thinks they know what they want, but in the end they find out they made a mistake. Sometimes irreversible.

Here I am asking everyone why they deeply think they like porn, but I myself don't know why I deeply dislike certain kinds of porn. I know why I don't like the bondage/animal and beating crap... but I don't know why I don't like the regular stuff. I do enjoy pictures though.

We have very wild swinging sexual lifestyle husband and I, yet i do not enjoy pon films ususally. i do get tuned on and aesthetic appreciation from sexual pictures though - can be hard or softcore as longs as they look beautiful and sexy an give me artistic satisfaction and make me think arousing feelings.

i much prefer soft core films, or main stream films with sexy scenes to true porn, even though in real life often love really doing extreme sexual things.

i know this is a bit contrdicios.

Well, about the people that might think they know what they want, but end up making a mistake. I think there are probably some people that get into porn for that reason. Although I don't think it is as many as some people think. I don't think we should reduce every thing down to the lowest common denominator because some people might make a bad decision. I am not their parent, and even if I was, they're an adult now and they are suppose to be capable of making their own decisions. If one of their decisions leads to something they don't like...tuff, you live and you learn. Nobody is pointing a gun at their heads and forcing them to do it. It would be like me becoming a racecar driver and blaming the existence of car races for my accident I got into at 300km/hr.

About why I deeply like porn, I don't at least not deeply. I can go 2 days, 2 weeks, or even 2 years without looking at a single bit of porn if I wanted. It isn't like something I can't live without. I still like it though. I like looking at hot women. I don't know exactly why except maybe liking to see the other sex naked is something that is ingrained in all of us since birth.(well almost all of us) It is not even all for erotic purposes. I also view good-looking women the same way I view a priceless painting. I even consider myself a highly moral and religious person, but I don't find any more wrong with looking at porn than I would find any thing wrong reading a novel where people ended up getting murdered. Its fiction, you’re not doing it. If we all had to feel guilty of every thought that crossed our minds life wouldn't be worth living. Watching porn isn't like your going around and sleeping with other people.:2 cents:

Porn can be wrong - there are so many genres and the word has developed to mean so many different things. I don't think that much of the "mainstream" porn that this board deals with is harmful at all. There is, like in most things, a seedy, deviant underbelly in porn, but that stuff isn't allowed-requested-viewed on this board. Not all of that "other" stuff is illegal either, but just (imo) sick.

I think you started a definition by separating porn into hardcore and softcore. As we all know, hardcore covers a lot of ground. Hardcore Vivid-Wicked flix? Surely no porn fan is offended by them. Max Hardcore? I think the general opinion of the board is that the guy is a deviant lowlife.

I see little difference in drawing a parallel with music. Some people love pop, some people hate it and (pretentious artists anyway) few are offended by it. It is aimed at a broad audience. Satanaic black Scandanavian metal is loved by few, hated by more and offensive to most. It is aimed at a small audience. It is simply to difficult in a market driven world, to generalize about products (which porn in all forms is). Economics applies here too, just like in any other product/economy - you also need to look at the specifics, and cannot judge the whole - because what the "whole" (porn) is, changes and grows with time.

It's the chicken and egg question, isn't it? Does porn turn people into sexual monsters, or do sexual monsters seek out the porn they like?

I have friends in the local police here in the UK and they tell me that the accepted wisdom is the latter - perverts seek porn and porn does not make perverts, providing you don't set too narrow a definition on the word "pervert". After all, some people think oral sex is perverted.

I don't mind if my boyfriend watches porn, just as he doesn't mind if I go out for a night with the girls and a male stripper. He watches porn, gets turned on and chases me into the bedroom. I win. I watch a male stripper, have a good boozy night out witht he girls and come home to chase him into the bedroom. I win. I suppose at my age (39+, let's leave it at that) I can feel a bit insecure about him comparing me to nubile young things with gravity-defying breasts, but then that goes for Page Three and the teenager serving us at the supermarket checkout.

Whether it's seen as infidelity or not I think depends on the details of your own relationship and how secure you are with each other.

So far as changing sexual behaviour, I've never felt the need to engage in pornstar acrobatics because, let's face it, they rehearse beforehand which sort of spoils the flow, y'know? I can say the only thing I've ever changed after watching porn is some of my oral sex techniques. The boyfriend has never once complained.

I agree that there are different kinds of porn and they appeal to each of us for a different reason: Others like it soft, others rough. It’s just a matter of taste. Personally I like porn very much, but lately I have noticed something that makes me worry about myself
When I am with my girlfriend, I have trouble having an erection. I am a smoker and have a lot of stress, but I don’t think that this is my problem. When I watch porn alone, I have no trouble, and can “perform” two or three times in a row. When I am with a girl however, things get tougher: about half an hour to get hard and another hour to come. And I can fire only once.
My point is that I am afraid I am getting addicted to porn. I am turning into someone who likes his women 2D and not 3D. I have trouble making love to a woman because she is not as pretty or as sexy or as experienced as the women I see in porn films. And most of all, I can’t have sex with a girl I really care about and love because subconsciously I believe that sex is a bit degrading and my partner should be someone I don’t give a damn about. I know that this is all in my head, but I don’t think that I am the only one who confuses what he sees in those films with real life.

I prefer the still pics--its similiar to why I like going to art galleries, to enjoy how some one else represents reality from their eyes

Max Hardcore - I'll judge a man by what he does.
If he goes to church, takes care of his sick mother and then turns around and pisses in (a surprised) models' mouth, what am I supposed to think?

It may be impossible to know every side of anyone, so maybe impossible to accurately judge. But, what are we, am I, to think of that behavior? (Max's) Persona or not, I am unapologetic for my dislike and contempt for his humiliation of women.

There are certainly different opinions on the board. But, I think in most cases porn and naked babes led us all here. Commonality one. Naked babes and porn (and maybe other things) keep us here. Commonality two. Anyone posting hundreds of posts in a few months shares a degree of a common psyche, rather than never posting or posting once a week. Commonality three. Those that venture outside of the soley porn links to discuss porn and other things, like this thread have commonality too. So, in that sense, and in my reading of virtually every thread since February 2004, and my certain reading every thread since January, and my knowledge gained from being behind and in front of the scenes, I think i am justified in grouping the ggeneral opinion of the board. If there are those that disagree, they are always welcome to say, BNF, you are wrong.
