It's just that a lot of porn is either boring (same combinations, positions, etc.) or, more likely, annoying.

I agree - there's more and more garbage everywhere. Even the Private films are boring now.

If there is one area of entertainment never suffers from a lack of orginality its porn. Oh it might get repetetive and mundane but there is always something new. Solution: Don't watch porn clips, watch full length porn. American porn...a.k.a most of what's out there, is short and sweet. I think you are experiencing what is called "The Awakening." I experienced this feeling of ennui and consignment to the shitty overall product probably 1 year ago. There have been several threads around which discuss it.

There is no sensuality in porn. I like hard sex--hairpulling, assslapping, hard fucking, panting, sweating, etc., just like the next guy BUT I would ALSO like to see two "strangers" have a spark between them.

I would like to see a film where two "characters" meet for the first time, fall in love before my eyes through some clever, witty, meaningful dialogue, and then the passion and excitement of the moment rips their fucking clothes off *magically* and they fuck like happy maniacs. I want to be convinced that this can happen in porn today.

Corporate Porn is BORING

I know that Brazzers etc. put out a technically sophisticated product but its all hardware and no software. Meaning that the sex while photographed wonderfully is all mechanical and repetitive.
They won't dare to take a chance on anything new because they're lawyers will advise them against it. The talent is reduced to manequinns who do as they are told with great looks but no passion. This isn't the fault of the actors its managements desire to control everything that's the problem.
The issue isn't how outrageous or conventional the sex is. In the old days I could really get into the cutting edge nasty stuff that Amber Lynn or other performers did because you do they were doing it because THEY wanted to.
Because of porn I realized that when done in a mutual and consenting fashion -golden showers, and other so-called "perversions" could actually be loving and wonderful activities. But today when a director tells an 18 year old girl that she has to do an atm, and she doesn't even know what that is, it just isn't sexy.
What should porn do. Turn the business over to the talent and the fans.
Let the performers fantasies inform the director's vision. Bring women's ideas into the picture. I can't speak for woman, but what many fe males tell me they want is not vanilla light sex porn, but porn films that treat woman with respect, also including not just well endowed males but good looking ones! Treat the talent, especially female talent with respect, to the extent that at least some portion of the talent see porn and sex work as a career option give them the opportunity to continue working and not discard them after a few years (or its now months) of work. Feature people of all ages. Sex is ultimately about energy not naked bodies, different people get off on watching people of different ages, porn should reflect this fact.
Break down the racial barriers, after this election its time to take black, latin and asian talent out of the specialty demographic and integrate them into the mainstream(the Southern Strategy doesn't work anymore). Utilize the internet as a feedback loop so that everyone will implement those practices that bring the greatest pleasure to the public and the talent involved.

I agree that there is a huge lack of real heat in porn. Most performances are just that - performances with people doing whatever the director tells them to do because HE thinks it's hot / sexy. Granted, that's the director's job, but I agree with humstein that porn would be a lot better if more directors took the time to ask their actors, 'Hey what do YOU want / like to do?'

And as for the "I watch a lot" and "about once a week," I should've clairified that, shouldn't I? What I meant was the porn I've been watching about once a week these last few months has mostly been the gonzo variety, and most of it is annoying or boring.
