I like Paranormal Activity better than Halloween. Sure it's a classic, but it's basically a slasher with a hot starlet, which is the same movie we all hate these days.

I agree, but I did enjoy Rob Zombie's Halloween I and II remake. Micheal Myers was just more brutal. Did you see how he killed that black nurse? He just kept stabbing the fuck out of her....

Halloween was more than just a Slasher. It has mood, spirit, dread, build. Paranormal Activity was a borefest with two unlikable main characters and the ghost specialist was a joke who's whole reason was to pad the movie and tell us what we already to know.

And Zombie's remakes were just another dumb slasher. They were terrible and the Meyers back story was moronic.

The music from the original Halloween is a huge reason it was so successful and had such a score of copycats since. One of the reasons it is a favorite of mine for the genre. Probably not gory enough for most horror fans of nowadays though.

Both are great movies (3 if you include Zombie's Halloween), but of two completely different horror genres. Paranormal Activity is definitely creepier and I enjoy the running story throughout the series. I love slashers, but Michaels Myers comes third for me out of the big 3. However Rob Zombie adding some depth to the Michael Myers character was definitely better than either the Friday the 13th (not bad) or Nightmare on Elm Street (they ruined Freddy, my favorite) remakes.

Halloween is the best slasher Horror movie, and Paranormal Activity is the best supernatural horror movie.
