Is Oatmeal Worth Being Miserable?

I just got the cholesterol results from my last doctors visit today, and was curious about what some other peoples base physiological stats might be. I'm 43, and I've drank ****, smoked cigarettes, and ate meat and pasta for nearly 30 years.

My results:

Body Mass Index: 22.57 kg/m2
***** Pressure : 132/88
Composite Cholesterol Score: 204 (I got those results by phone, so I'm not sure what the breakdown is, but I was told I had to need for concern)
Triglyceride Score: 181

I'm curious what vegan joggers score at. I'm not even trying to be extra healthy, and I'm still scoring just slightly above optimal.

;P

(Admittedly my results could be largely genetic inheritance, so I'm just being a dick and bragging about being marginally healthy, but I find it amusing)

what do you mean oatmeal worth being miserable?

i actually like the stuff. but im far too lazy to make it when i get up. which is a shame.

add a little brown sugar and some sort of milk, real or soy, whatever. if you need to lower it, dont fuck around about it. i just lost a ****** member this weekend because of a heart ******. **** gets real fast.

Well, no, I don't need to lower anything. That's kinda the point of this thread. . .

Oatmeal is at its best with canned milk. You can add anything else you want, but canned milk is a must.

And considering how much I smoke, my ***** pressure (taken a few weeks ago) was absolutely terrific.

Oatmeal is awesome. Nuff said.

Also, It's possible to live a healthy life and not be miserable. If its one or the other, you're doing it wrong.

+1. really, i switched to vegetarian now 2 months ago. i feel great, and the foods im eating are really exciting. you fall into routines really easy and now im eating foods i never cooked up before. and fuck, its fun as hell.

being healthy doesnt mean boring or you eat wheat grass all day. you make better choices and you end up eating good food without feeling like ****.

I'm totally healthy and my ***** pressure is fine.

I'm just saying that I **** Oatmeal! Now I probably have high ***** pressure resulting from this thread . . .

Thanks for that

Actually, all things considered, I could make 100+ easy, and might possibly become immortal (assuming they get nanobots working).

So:

Oatmeal doesn't have to be bad. Here's my secret to good tasting but healthy oatmeal, that's also easy to make...

1-Get steel cut oats, dry. Cheap and they're the best thing for you.
2-However, they are not easy to make every day. SOOO....every Sunday, make a week's batch all at once, and save the other 6 days in the fridge in a tupperware container.
3-You'll need to add a little milk every day, and then just microwave it for a minute or so, and stir it up.
4-Steel cut oatmeal is not great-tasting, so you'll need to add a little (very little) brown sugar, and also some fruit. Blueberries are really good for you, and bananas add even more fiber. Other things you can add are raisins, dried cranberries, diced apples, and honey. All good and good for you.

You'll be loving this **** in no time.

Wait.. Oatmeal isn't bad for you is it? I loveeee oatmeal and I love to make oatmeal chocolate chip cookies too! :)

For the record, I will never eat oatmeal. I'll go down with the ship, shaking my fist defiantly, and my arteries will just have to deal with the fact that they failed.
