The greatest lie you can tell..
'she meant nothing to me....your the one I love' ;)

My two best excuses will always be on the tip of my tongue "I didn't know," and "It wasn't me."

I lie ALL the time, but its usually to myself. Tomorrow is always my busiest day.

Actually, I think one of the worse lies you can tell is a lie you tell to yourself.

There are just times when you may hurt someone worse with the truth.

I am a “the truth will set you free” kind of person. There might be a situation in witch I will lie, but it won't be to keep from hurting somebody’s feelings. Not if I am talking to an adult anyway.

That is an interesting point Georges. I did not think of that.

I mean if someone put a gun to my head and I thought a lie (that wouldn't hurt anybody else) would save my life - you are darn right I am going to lie.

Of course; that would make it understandable. Not right.

I agree 100%.

there have been many times where lying has either saved someone or helped someone. so i would say yes it is alright to lie.

In answer to your poll, no lying is never right, but in the real world it is sometimes absolutely necessary. In a perfect world you wouldn't be put in a situation to lie.

Anytime you knowingly do something wrong...including lying, the only justifiable rationale is if the greater crime would be to not do the something wrong.

In so doing, you accept what you're doing as wrong and welcome the consequences including punishment because in your mind you effected the greater good.

No, it is never alright to lie.

Wait, I just lied about that. I guess there are certain situations where lying could be accepted. But you'd better have a good reason for it.

watch your dying parent become agitated in their dementia, and ask you if you've "taken care of the rabbits?" knowing this is a reference to something 60 years in the past, saying "yes" so they calm down is a lie. a damn good one.

this is not a black and white issue. "yes" and "no" don't adequately cover the options here. and lying needs better definition. this is complex crap.

If a dog walks up to another dog, and says, all dogs are liars...is he telling the truth?

I lie all the time. I'm lying right now actually.

Hell yes

Lying is unfortunately something you have to do in this world to survive but I do not in any way believe in lying to people you care about

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
Woman: "Honey, do you think this shirt makes me look fat?"
Honest Man: "Actually, yeah it does. In fact, most shirts make you look fat."
Woman: "You ASSHOLE!!!"

Woman: "Honey, do you think this shirt makes me look fat?"
Lying Man: "Whaaaaat? No way. You're not fat; not even clooooose."
Woman: "...come over here and put your balls in my mouth."

Is lying ever right? It is if you want to get your balls sucked.
