...or aren't we living in the year 2006 and very close to 2007?
Why, with numerous cases of contaminated food getting to restaraunts and sickening people, has there not been a system implemented to trace that food back to it's origins?
This Taco Bell contaminated food issue and the Olive Garden are the latest, and what do I hear? "Well, we are investigating where the lettuce originated from but it's very difficult." Sheesh.
Why, in this day and age are people who take big risks with their lives not better prepared with stuff that can save their lives?
The hikers missing on Mt Hood - One was found dead today. It seems they did not take advantage of today's GPS - besides a cell phone. It's unfortunate that they were caught in bad weather, but it is winter and snow storms will happen. No one deserves to die that way, but if they were better prepared technologically, I think their plight would have seen a better outcome.
I guess what I'm getting at is why do we see problems that could be better alleviated if we are living in a time when there are resources to make things be easier.
Why is there clamboring for info on a shipment of lettuce? I can't believe there has been no traceablilty whatsoever, ever!
Why would experienced hikers not travel with some type of intsrumentation to help facilitate a rescue just in case a severe storm came in. People would argue that they were experienced, but weather can change all that experience.
I don't know, I guess I just feel for those hikers' families and those people who got sick. People need to prepare for the worst when they set out to do things away from "civilization" just in case something does happen, there will be help much more quickly.
Companies need to have better traceablilty of their products so if something does go awry, there are answers quickly and the situation can be minimized.
These are just two items I was thinking of - I know there's more.
Thanks for reading this rant.
