Is Halloween championed throughout the UK and / or Europe ?

Is it gaining popularity over the years ?

Are there night clubs etc. that get all roudy & gussied up ? Where ?

Thanks !

There are a lot of bars here where, if you go in on Halloween dressed accordingly, you'll get free drinks. Needless to say, many adults WILL dress up for this reason.

But nowadays, when the kids come to the door 'trick or treating', they just don't seem to understand the concept of the 'trick'. All they expect are sweets or more than that - money!

Just like Christmas and Easter etc - it has all become far too commercialized! :confused:

Some kids don't even say anything, they just stick out their bags and expect a treat. Then there are the 14 year olds that come out not even dressed up and want free candy. I quit giving out candy last year, I just moved so I might try it in this neighborhood and see how it works. I was in a kinda bad neighborhood last year, so that could have been the problem.

Hallow e'en has always been big in Ireland for children. My great gand mother went trick or treating.

Doesn't happen here, too many child rapists knocking around, one of them 3 doors away from me! I'm sure they'll open their doors for "tricks" from kids ##shudder##

Personally, I'm much too busy celebrating the 30th anniversary of the German Autumn {death to piggies - HELTER SKELTER!}

German kids prefer to "trick or treat" on St. Martin's Day. That's a long-standing tradition: Children go from door to door, singing cheesy songs ("Bin ein kleiner König, gib mir nicht zu wenig")...

Helloween is for the Americano-phile In-crowd... A pseudo-cool snobbish bunch of imbeciles who believe that every trans-Atlantic import is cool... :nono:

Ouch!

The problem with trick or treaters here in the UK is, try giving them some sweets, and they look at you as if you are a piece of shit! No the little twats want money from you!! :mad:

Egg the little fuckers, I didnt get the chance last night. No one knocked on my door :D

Answering the original question, no its not that much of a big deal over here :hatsoff:

I don't really care about it too much, and most people i know don't care about it either. It's certainly not as big as it is in the states

Won't be as big a deal here anymore either if incidents like this keep happening as people tend to become overcautious after sensational news like this or it least it will change HOW it's celebrated:Twelve Year Old Shot & Killed Trick Or Treating in S.C.

Reminds me of an incident that a Japanese foreign exchange student was shot & killed also in Louisiana years ago.

It's amazing the market that there is for Halloween, even in times of recession ! I was passing by a large party supply store on Tue. or Wed. and the parking lot was so full that there were patrons jaywalking across an expressway, to and from this store as if it were an east - westerly direction expressway on the Mexican border lol !

Get outta here !! :D:rofl::jester:

How about the do good-er Stanford educated blonde who set out for Africa to help "change the world". She ended up raped, murdered and mutilated because of her race. What's worse is that her parents wanted to meet her killers and forgive them.
