Iran discussion!

hey sup, i havnt been on this forum for a while but i guess there are mature people heare that can talk about something besides porn. So what do u guys or girls think about the current situdation in Iran?

personally im behind American all the way. I think its ridiculous that a country wants a nuclear arm. Theres already over 20,000 nukes in the world. (i think)
plus they obviously want to harm Israel in the future. Discuss...

Mercantilist energy policies with the trappings of imperialism do not make the world safer or better.

That goes for the other guys too. To bad we're all a bunch of greedy fucks...

Actually, I think Israel is the only country that has a Nuclear bomb. Other than us I guess.

i dont think that iran is a good place for a nuke they dont like us all that much and we're probly the first place it would get used if they were able to finish it. personaly i dont think anybody needs one. but if anyone were to keep them i think the U.S should be one of the only countries, we tend to be a little more responsible. i know what other people are going to say to that but its true.

Yeah I can imagine that a lot of people would have something to say about that. :1orglaugh
Let's just say that I disagree and leave it at that.

Regarding Iran, I don't think that anything good will come from letting them get the technology to produce nuclear bombs. Whether they will openly use a nuclear bomb, supply it to terrorists or just use it as leverage is hard for me to say. I haven't got much of a problem with many countries having or developing nuclear weapons, but I don't really like that weird president of Iran and the statements he has made.

I couldn't agree more with you

I'm nervous of course about the prospect of Iran acquiring nuclear arms, but I can totally sympathise with their point of view. From an Iranian perspective America is seeking to oppress their technological and military advancement, and if we're objective about things, America has no right to do so. The Non-Proliferation Treaty is by no means an excuse for America (or any country bound by it for that matter) to start dictating what other countries can do. Its chief purpose is to limit the actions of the countries signed up to the treaty.

And when their President, Mr Ahmadinejad, says: "They say they want to give us incentives! Do you think you are dealing with a four-year-old child to whom you can give some walnuts and chocolates and get gold from him?" He may have ulterior motives, but you can see that they have genuine frustration at being constantly belittled and told what they can or cannot do by foreigners. Imagine America in the reverse situation - there would be an absolute uproar.

But yes, it is hardly unreasonable to suggest that when the weapons are developed, they will fall into terrorist hands. So to my own cynical mind it seems inevitable that America will make some kind of military move to pre-empt the development of the arms. I'm sure at the moment the only thing stopping America from doing so is that China and Russia as members of the Security Council would veto any proposal of sanctions or military action by the US. The implications of America choosing to ignore their veto and go ahead with some kind of attack on Iran are to horrific to contemplate.

It's not exactly far from Iraq or Afghanistan though is it, might not even need to move that many more troops abroad. I bet Bush might even be able to find it on a map now...

The last thing I heard about Iran nuclear technology was they were using it for energy source. Ok, nice lie. They maybe using it for an energy source but even so, they are way to close to Iraq who HATES the U.S. There is alot of terrorist in that part of the country and after all money talks! So who's to say the terrorist won't just buy the technology or even any actual bombs?
If all these countries have nukes:

North Korea
China
Russia
The UK
France
India
Pakistan
Israel
and USA

:helpme: And terrorists do get ahold of some nuclear technology...how can I put this mildly...
WE'RE ALL FUCKED!!!!!!!

i just think that any whole country that makes it a habbit after church or whatever the hell it is to mass group and chant death to america doesnt need even a bottle rocket.

Since I live in Arizona USA, I have nukes detonated to my left, nukes detonated to my right, go up north a couple states and you'll find uranium mines and nuclear waste dumped into the ground and water table...

what was the question? No, im not really concerened about Iran.

The Iranians are not stupid, they have noticed that as soon as a country has obtained nuclear weapons it has been given the VIP treatment by the "international community", and most specifically the USA. Just compare the US stand on Pakistan now with what it was in Pakistans pre-nuclear days, and how the US is pouring food aid into North Korea in order to support the regime. Now, if the US had unleashed a rain of A-bombs on North Korea when they acquired nukes, maybe the Iranians would have thought twice about it. But it did not, and now it will have to pay the price.

It is interesting to see how this development parallels that of the Roman empire. The Roman expansion was largly motivated by their securioty concerns: the disarmed anyone on their borders who seemed to pose a threat, and then they had to go there and keep the peace since the disarmed no longer had the wherewithals to do so. In the same way, as long as the US is intent on forcing their order upon countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan they will be forced to keep a substantial military presence there. In the end, the demands that this put upon the empire was one of the things that lead to its downfall. And since many experts seem to think that half South and Southeast Asia will go nuclear in the years to come. Note that American overstreach has made the Japaneese wary about US ability to protect them and might decide to rearm, most certainly including nukes, something that most likely would spur an arms race througout Asia.

It looks as if the USA will be busy. And as long as it tries to fight colonial warfare in the manner of a police campaign for law and order, it will suffer greatly.

You know where from Pakisthan got nuclear technology? USA and that's why their "Father of Nuclear Power" is presently under house-arrest.

The day 1st nuke was dropped on Hiroshima, we, the entire mankind was, as you say, FUCKED.

In our language there is a proverv that loosely translates, "The mother of the dacoit shouts the loudest." Do you find any echo?

Chances are they allready have the contacts, the equipment, and the delivery system - its only a matter of finding the right channel into the US - there were rumors that something was attempted in a shipping container down in Baltimore - far before this fiasco about port security in the hands of the UAE was mentioned.

sorry my bad again.... i will ask them to be nice next time and keep it down for the neighbors. :p

Nuclear weapons, along with chemical weapons, are things that mankind should have never invented. Though I do believe that back when the two superpowers, the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. were fighting each other through surrogates all over the world, the fear of those weapons kept them from actually facing each other openly, thus avoiding WWIII. Had there been no nukes, but only conventional weapons during the 60's, 70's, and 80's, I do believe a confrontation between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. would have been more likely. Now with Iran, their leaders are a bit more fanatical, sponsoring and arming terrorist organizations around the world, taking over the embassy of another nation in their country, I believe if they develop nuclear weapons, that doomsday clock will be closer to midnight than it ever was throughout the entire cold war as their leaders seem to be more religiously fanatical than W would ever be.

I do hope that we, the U.S., or the Israelis, do something to prevent them from doing so. I really hope that their intelligence services pinpoint exactly where our aircraft should drop their bombs or where our commandos should strike and put an end to Iran's nuclear ambitions. The problem is that we all believe that the CIA is full of Jack Bauer's, when it's actually full of Valerie Plame's. But even so, if Iran really wants to go to war against us, I say they should bring it on.

it's just stupid, we made enough weapons to kill everyone on the planet ten times over. that's insane. yeah, it's totaly better to exterminate all life on this planet then allow people to stop practicing capitalism.

1) Iran is overhyping their nuclear technology for various reasons, not the least of which is to get themselves noticed on the international stage.
2) The West is happy to play along with Iran's hype so they have a reason to impose sanctions, or take other actions, as deemed necessary.

Sound familiar? Iraq hyped their chemical weapons, US/UK played along, a lopsided "war" ensued, and we can see the result. Other ramblings:

3) Iran doesn't have the rocket technology to hit anything but their neighbors, and without much accuracy at that.
4) Whether terrorists could obtain a nuke from them, and whether said terrorists could smuggle it into a western country is debatable.
5) Many, if not most, Iranians want to have better relations with the West. The government does not.

Discussion is good, but it's hard to know what's going on when the public is fed government propaganda minced by Tom Clancy and Fox News. :dunno:
