Iran criticises Saudi intervention in Bahrain
Tue Mar 15 2011 11:54:56

Iran has denounced the arrival of Saudi troops in Bahrain as unacceptable, and the United Nations has urged its nationals to leave the island.

More than 1,000 Saudi troops entered Bahrain on Monday to help the government cope with the Shia uprising against the Sunni elite.

Iran, which sits across the Gulf from Bahrain, has sharply criticised the Saudi intervention, which has involved clashes breaking out overnight with the key highway still blocked.

The US has also urged Saudi Arabia, the world's top oil exporter and a key ally in the Gulf Arab region, to show restraint.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates has said that it would send 500 police at the request of Bahrain's rulers after weeks of protest against the government and royal ******.

Bahrain is a country in the Middle East.

as if things weren't unstable enough now in north africa / middle east
then this has the potential to make things get much worse much quicker

there's the direct involvement of big regional powers, saudi here, but we all know iran will be stirring things up too
- saudi exporting repression while
iran seeks to make people in another country more "free"
while keeping its own folks repressed

i dunno how things are going to end up - but its not going to be as stable a transition to democracy ( if that's how things end up )
that happened following fall of berlin wall

us, uk & rest of west will have to play things very, very well to come out of this whole unrest / revolutions in a better position regarding the region

:2 cents:

Those little pipsqueaks should be thanking the US but instead, they're stirring up **** at every turn!

:surprise:

Hmmm so Saudi Arabia invades Bahrain in order to help crush a pro-democracy movement and the US gives it's tacit approval yet Iran is the one stirring up ****?

Interesting.

omg ! The Saudis shooting people -- first! fuck me! Little Kingdom!

We just don't like Iran.
Although the US policy clearly has saved their asses on numerous occasions!

Peaceout bro

Saved Irans ass

Like when the US & The CIA helped to overthrow the Democratically elected Mossadegh who decided to Nationilize Iranian oil & not let our corporations have it?

Or when the US/West openly supported Saddam Hussein, helped him with biological & chemical weapons which he used against IRAN while we looked the other way?

The Iranians should really be thanking us.
