This is indeed a very sad day. Being an ex-DJ and voice-over guy, Don LaFontaine was an idol of mine. Just like John Facenda (NFL Films narrator who was referred to as "the voice of God"), LaFontaine is irreplaceable. Someone will assume his duties, but no one can supplant him. Awesome VO talent. Rest in peace, Don.

I liked Don LaFontaine. There's still Ashton Smith and he's a really good voice-over announcer.

I bet the baritone levels were off the chart.

Actually, they would both be basses. A baritone has a lighter voice with a higher tessitura than a baritone. Johnny Cash was a baritone.
