If the country you were to immigrate to required your fingerprints....

What would you do if the country you immigrated to wanted your fingerprints?

Yes :hatsoff:

I don't think I'd want to move there if that was the case. First fingerprint databases, then what? Once the government starts infringing on people's rights they'll invariably continue pushing further and further.

:yesyes:

Anyone who thinks it is just fine does not know what freedom is and doesn't deserve freedom.

I disagree. If done properly it would not be an invasion of privacy, it would be a deterrent towards evil in society.

 Why is there still crime with all the laws that are in place now? There will always be crime.

You can't tell people they are innocent until proven guilty then treat them like criminals.

Of course there will always be crime but trying to keep it at a minimum is very important and hell, to keep people with evil intent away from my kin I would go the extra distance if it seems to be something that might follow that course. :2 cents:

There's really no minimilzing crime. The only thing that will be done is taking more freedoms away and making everyone a criminal.

Freedom comes with risks.

True enough, but it is the society with which we live in and we have to go with what's available.

Yeah, I remember seeing one of the major anchors saying he'd put one of those chips in his arm. I guess towards this phase of the programming I would agree with Will. :2 cents:

They break the rules and laws consistently and nothing is ever done.

True enough. But that is not an answer, something needs to be done when governed laws are disobeyed by our own private lawmakers which we must push forward ourselves... we are, however, coming close to off topic, which, in itself in FreeOnes terms, is ,or should be, something towards a new law... :p

It's just a matter of time, why fight it? You guys begged for government run heath care... well, there goes your right to privacy.
DNA √ finger prints √ retinal scanning √ all gathered quickly in one convenient location (the hospital or physicians office), and you didn't even know it, isn't that like totally cool? NO! not cool at all

Elements of the UN have been working on this for some time now.

How, exactly ARE taking finger prints an invasion of your privacy?

I guess I'm looking at it from an angle, ok.....fingerprints now but what next? Where do they draw the line?

I also have to wonder what's the purpose since they're not going to be able to monitor the people they're dying to because they're protected by EU law. And besides, when we lawfully come into the country, we HAVE to register ourselves at city hall (that one really offended the American sense of privacy). Everyone does, native or resident.

If any government wants to know what you're up to, all they have to do is ask Larry Page or Mark Zuckerberg. Your Android phone just uploaded your address book and all your "private" photos to a server in southern Poland. Either you send Larry the $773.46 that he KNOWS you have in your bank account, or he's going to sell the photos to Marky Mark Zuckerberg for 36 cents. Mark will then sell them to all the advertisers in the world for $600,000. When your employer and clients learn of your porn habit (and skin condition), you'll wish that you'd sent Larry that $773.46. :nono:

As for fingerprinting, I guess I don't see it as such a big deal. I've been fingerprinted at least three times that I can remember: once for a background check for a job during college, again for a real estate license and then when I went to work for a bank.

DNA is a different matter though. That's information that unscrupulous entities could do something with.

Almost every thread is off topic. ;)

Everyone that breaks laws should be treated the same that's the problem. Look at Marion Berry. He should be in prison right now.

This.
We seem to rather freely share our information with private corporations than we do with the government. We refuse to fill out a 10 question census, but we will gladly give AT&T our social security number, credit card number, date of birth and mother's maiden name, without question. Because they have to have it to make sure we are us.
The phone company, our internet providers, the banks, the credit card company, the insurance companies, social networks, , anyone that sells you a car, anyone that sells you a house, the retailer that talks you into using one of their credit cards, any financing company, the company that does your taxes - if anyone thinks that because they are hiding from the government that they are hiding from the establishment - if anyone thinks that it is the government which is spying on them, think again. Big Brother comes in many different forms.

Red XXX[/URL][/B], post: 6524330, member: 55251"]Welcome to UK politics, every few years we get this kind of stuff from our governments! Honestly they haven't got a bloody clue any of them!

They have their hair-brained ideas.

Do you remember when they were going on about the ID card scheme? 10 years have passed and the government is still run by idiots, different ones at that. lol
