I've worked for quite a few companies where I didn't like the person above me. Some of them (where there were some VERY strong negative feelings, which were always justified), I worked, plotted and schemed to get them fired. Some of them eventually left on their own. And in some situations, I eventually left. But it's seldom the case that you're going to love everybody that you work with (above you or below you). I try to remain professional in whatever position I'm occupying, and just get on with what I need to get done. And I very seldom socialize with the people I work with outside of work.That lessens the chances of anybody getting the wrong idea of our relationship, good or bad. When I built my house, some (then) co-workers tried to invite themselves over to see it. As tactfully as I could, I uninvited them. My friends come to see me. My family comes to see me. But just because I work with someone, that doesn't mean that we're buddies or pals.

I really don't care whether people like me or not at work... or whether I like them. All that matters is that they respect me and I respect them. And if we can't do that, it's very likely that we are going to have a major problem sooner than later.
