If gas cost $10 a gallon...

...if this happened right NOW , the US would be dead !

Ya damn right we would be. The entire economy revolves around petro. Hell just getting on the bus during peak hours is like $3.00, so even that shit isn't cheap. I just took my car on the biggest trip it's been on in some time and I was pleasantly surprised to find I get over 30+ MPG HWY. I honestly thought it was a lot worse than that but that damn gas meter didn't budge until I was like 60 miles out of the city. :)

How much state - tax is on ur gallon ....?

We have here about 60 % ....so * mother Germany * is ( in-officially ) not really interested to lower down the gas - prices ....:angels:

I fart all the time and no one ever pays me $10 for the gas.

Bada-bing!

Conspiracy...
The problem right now isn't that there isn't enough it's the "futures" market trying to predict a oil downturn because of the strife in the Middle East.

I believe they are messing with us and there is plenty of oil. Just like the fake oil "crisis" in the 70's.

It's big businesses sticking it to us once again.
We need a huge revolt. That is the only thing that scares them.

Oil Fields Are Refilling... Naturally - Sometimes Rapidly

Deep underwater, and deeper underground, scientists see surprising hints that gas and oil deposits can be replenished, filling up again, sometimes rapidly. Although it sounds too good to be true, increasing evidence from the Gulf of Mexico suggests that some old oil fields are being refilled by petroleum surging up from deep below, scientists report. That may mean that current estimates of oil and gas abundance are far too low.

Yep, this will become a *hard lesson* for the US to pay this much for gas.

But as Roald already told, also here in Germany we´re almost paying $ 10,-- / gallon. The date you´re paying $ 10.-- in the US , we´ll be close to 15 > 17 ...and I bet my azz this will happen in not such a long time.

About half yr. ago I owned a big Volvo - Station ...just gave it away to my ex. GF cause I dont need it no more. It was up to almost 22 litres per 100 km ( at full-speed, 150mls/hr. ) ...but before I gave it to her I changed it to LPG ( liquid gas ) . Now it needs at full-speed 26 litres, ...but she pays about 60 eurocent the litre only . :D

I drive about 500 KM each week and would cry if I had to pay normal petrol prices. My car may be a gutless wonder, but I'm happy currently paying 58 euro cent a liter and only having to fuel regular petrol every few months.

Well, gas costs that little without taxes on it, so I would assume that she has either someone around who has connection to government company or ministry, or someone likes her very much and gave her a special deal ;)

Getting a sort of free ride from Mr. Tax Man shows how godlike Our Lady of the Board (OLB™) really is :1orglaugh

Back on topic:

I still marvel why people still want to ride gas-guzzlers that burn fuel like no tomorrow. If you have no business moving heavy loads every other day, this is plain crazy.

My car is a bi-fuel. I drive on LPG (or auto gas as it's called elsewhere). My fuel costs are roughly 24 euro a week.

mhhh...sounds like LPG is in the Netherlands still a bit more cheap as is in Germany ...and sounds like you have a smaller car. My ex needs this big thing cause she has 5 kids ...

@Petra : You ever had problems with the LPG ? ...cause its my / her 1st. LPG too ..until now we had nothing, ..knock on wood. :)

Any problems I've had (and there's been a few) has been a production flaw and not from a conversion. I bought the Chevrolet Spark bi-fuel this past November. The tank is actually part of the build so I didn't lose boot space and the engine is already primed for LPG.

It's a fairly small car, but not uncomfortable. Because of the LPG, it's less than a 1 liter engine and it takes awhile to get up to speed. If I'm going over a bridge on a day the wind is against me...I'm not going over 110. :1orglaugh

That's the only thing I don't like about the car. But...when I see what everyone else is paying to top off their big, powerful, zippy cars...I'll happily take the gutless wonder.

That car is completely ok for someone who´s not in the need of a bigone. Congrats !!:):)

We have a Scenic as well, but with the price of fuel, that one is used much less these days.

There is no such thing as "inner city" in rural Ohio.

Or in Okeechobee, Florida.

I worked 30 miles away from the city and car was the only way to get there. I did have a co-worker that biked, but he's been recovering from a nasty head injury after being hit by a car going to work one morning.

Not exactly the state highway you want to walk or cycle on.

I sold my V8 a couple of years ago because it was such a fuel hog. Now I drive a wussy little Japanese car. ... It's just not the same when I pull up next to some chicky-babe, looking all cool, the stereo pumping ... in my little Mazda :D Damn, I must be getting old.
