Why not go for the cliche and have a celtic design at the base of the spine. Everyone trying to be individual has one of those!

Id suggest nothing that can 'age' - for example stuff to do with bands or films etc, people tend to regret those ones. A simple design somewhere you can conceal is best.

NOT love and hate across knuckles or a heart with 'MUM' under it either.

I've always found some form of dragon that curls around the upper arm/ shoulder rather appealing on a man

inside of the forearm is a good place need something like arabic or a cool font wit your name or kids name what ever you want now thats cool, non of the chinese crap or shite pictures need something personnel to you

I like some tatto's but I'd never get one as I change the pictures I have on my walls round the house get changed every year or so when I get bored of them and the idea of having the same picture on my body forever just seems crazy.

Personally speaking it's ultimately up to you. I don't agree with the fact that it has to be personal and I don't agree that it has to mean something. I've had another very recently and this woman in work said "what does it mean?". I told her that it means nothing - as long as it looks good then thats all that matters.

I also hate the stigmata that goes with getting your first tattoo- being that you'll have loads more. People get more if they want more, I think it's pretty much decided already before the first is inked!

All in all get something you like, and hopefully you can not see yourself regretting as you age. The fact that it may look shit as you age is not a good argument, I mean how shit is your face gonna look at 75 anyway lol. Choose wisely, the pain is not something to worry about that much.

A tattoo is not just for christmas........
