>I Let You Decide My Meal :P

Hey 'Fly, a little off topic but still on topic. I am a native Angeleno. I am crazy insane about Mexican Food. I like to go to restaurants, get from take out places, and even cook a few dishes at home. I always wonder about people in Europe and if they get much Mexican Food outside of the crappy chains like Taco Bell. Have you had much Mexican Food in your neck of the woods?

We have restaurant that call themselves "Santa Fe" or similar, and they offer food from the mexican cuisine and southern USA etc. Sadly, in most cases, it is all just pre-cooked stuff they simply heat up and decorate on dishes. A friend of mine a chef, once worked at such a place and told gruesome stories.

A real, authentic, mexican restaurant, probably you can find such things in Hamburg, Frankfurt, etc., the large towns.

In this town, sadly not

15 Euros should be enough to get you pretty much anything you want off any of those menus. Just for sheer mass quantity, I'd go for 5 McDonald's double cheeseburgers, 2 orders of large fries, and a large drink. OR you could go for a large double quarter pounder with cheese meal, add an extra double quarter pounder, and you'd have enough left over for another large order of fries. I'm going by U.S. prices, but I'm guessing their similar where you are.

If you want to spend a similar amount at the grocery store and make your own whatever, I got recipes for that, too!

I'm glad you have some sort of Mexican Food in your country other than Taco Bell. Mexican restaurants are fun, casual places to go to and also pretty inexpensive to eat at. I'm a pretty cheap date for my birthday and I go to a place out here called El Coyote which is around 85 years old. Xfire is from Texas and has access to some great Tex-Mex style where he lives. Ours is called Cali-Mex. There are different styles. I was in Utah and it was somewhat different too.

I worked years in the bar/restaurant business with a lot of fellas from Mexico. Many of them had a dream of opening their own place. I wonder how many headed your way to Europe. Mexican Food would be great on a cold night.

Sorry about your "Santa Fe" stuff. It sounds like what they try to serve us here at a place called Applebee's. If you visit America please avoid Applebee's.

Taco Bell does not exist in the Netherlands, not sure about Germany but it's probably the same.
My impression is that it's a junk food chain much like McDonalds or Burger King but correct me if I'm wrong, for me those are not restaurants.

Update:

I just ordered a pizza from Dominoes. This US chain has bought "Joey's Pizza" here in Germany, a major pizza franchise in Germany.

A year ago, when I tried to order from them, they had a delivery area that was just two streets short of the one I live in. Damn!

But they seem to have expended it, and now my pizza is underway :)

Good luck trying to figure out if the pizza crust is made of the same cardboard as the box, or not.

Sorry dude, but that is just not pizza. The sad thing is how close you are to Italy, and they don't deliver to Germany.

Oh, we have restaurants here in town, led by original italians, with original recipes :)

COLD HARD FACTS

---KFC was founded by a Southern slave-owner who used to beat his wife with a rubber chicken if she misbehaved. That's where he got the idea for his restaurants. KFC actually stands for Klobber her with a Fucking Chicken.

Okay, here is the scenario:

I haven't been to any of the big food franchises for some time. Now Dino's threads gave me this idea:

Two-part question:

There are McDonalds, Burger King and KFC in my town (In northern Germany).

So tell me, which of them would you advise, and, for 15 Euros (That is ~16 Dollars), what should be my meal there?

Can't wait for your advice!

I'll sometimes eat breakfast at McD's or Burger King. I like the sausage and egg McMuffins at McDonald's and the sausage, egg & cheese croissants at Burger King. With some potato bites and orange juice, those are good enough for me.

Do you like chicken wings? I like them on occasion. I finally stopped at a Wing Stop when I was at the airport and the wings were great. There's also another place called Buffalo Wild Wings. I've never been to one. I think that it's like a sports bar concept. I hear the wings there are good too. I don't like KFC because the original recipe chicken is so greasy. As for burgers anywhere, the ones I cook at home tend to be a lot better than anything I can get at a fast food joint.

Oh hella yes, I love chicken wings. I will try to find a nice recipe and make them myself.

Or go to the KFC we finally have since last year

Or both

Buffalo Wild Wings *can* be good. I've had varying quality at a few I've gone to. Do you have any "Wings Over" franchises near you? Those are more consistent that BWW.

I have a place called Quaker Steak & Lube, near me, they're not to bad. We had a few BW3's around here, but they closed for some reason. I also have a couple of bars near by that have decent wings,

I did finally try that KFC mac and cheese chicken bowl thing and it sukt. I don't know why Eric Cartman likes the gravy and chicken skin so much because I would rather eat a dog's farty ass. In Michigan we get KFC and McDonald's adverts on TV all the time and they try and gear them toward a hip urban victim but anybody can eat there so what the fuck. In closing I just want to say that Burger King went to hell the minute they started letting that creepy-assed pedophile dressed as a king create their menu.

Go to the bakery, get two large loaves of seeded Italian bread.

Go to the grocery store, get a half a pound of turkey breast, a half a pound of virginia ham, a quarter pound of swiss cheese, a jar of mayonnaise, one white onion, one head of lettuce, and one tomato.

Get home and cut the loaves in half and toast them up a bit in the oven on the high broil setting for a few minutes.

Make yourself two heroes. :)
