I don't wish him to be paralyzed for life just because he gave me a headache. He was the worst piece of shit I've ever had as a roommate. My other roommate and I were his neighbors in college, and he was cool then, but, after we became roommates, he showed the person that he really was. All he did all day was get drunk and stoned. He didn't work, so he couldn't pay rent or utilities on time month after month. He would not only steal our food and alcohol, but there were times when stuff that was missing from our rooms turned up among his things. He would bring people in the house, and then take off, leaving his friends to do as they pleased in the house. He fucked up the carpet and the walls in his room and in the living room to the extent that, when we moved out, the landlord took almost half of our deposit for repairs. There's so much more that I don't even want to think about. Basically, this guy is just a social parasite that we had to endure for 5 months before we found another roommate. If you had lived with him, you would also think that he should be paralyzed for life.

No, I called the police because people next door were commiting an illegal act. If I can, I want to try to keep illegal drugs, and the people who sell them, away from my neighbourhood. You may consider a bit of pot smoking pretty benign but the same "gentlemen" who sell it also offer a range of harder drugs and quite frankly couldn't give a shit about who they sell it to and what impact that has on a neighbourhood in terms of street crime and burglary and the impact those same drugs have on families (for heaven's sake, think of the children)

If you want me to stop calling the cops then get the drugs made legal so that they can be sold though licenced establishments.

I'm also the kind of killjoy who gets involved when one of the innumerable acts of petty assault and/or vandalism takes place around here. I presume that you'd consider me a douche bag for curtailing people's freedom of expression in that way too.

If the little old lady is truly calling the cops for no reason then they'll very quickly take her to task for wasting police time. I simply don't want users or dealers of illegal drugs in my neighbourhood. If I see a dealer I call the cops, if I see a user I call the cops. Using your ant analogy, I presume the cops are trying to sort out the ant nest. I'll try to help them by stomping on any ants around.

The dealer I used back in the day offered pot/hash; coke and speed.

The dealer busted when I made the call had pot, ecstasy and meth (small quantities of each but more than for personal use). Then again, I live in a relatively quiet neighbourhood - crack doesn't have much market penetration - yet

I accepted the risks when I used to buy drugs. I accepted the risks when I used to use drugs. I would have preferred that the drugs that I used (mostly pot) were legal but they were, and are, not.

It is not a good thing for me. I do not do drugs or drink alcohol. The smell of pot makes me sick. I have no idea how many pornstars smoke pot. A lot of the ones I know don't smoke pot or drink alcohol.
