The biggest story here is that it looks like we've found who the next Steve Erwin will be...the jizz he's squeezing off at the sight of that rat is only rivaled by what the late Steve Erwin would have.

I was bitten by a rat in Eire some years back. I was silly enough to pick it up in a field. If that one whipped round to bite it would take a hand clean off.

It's behavior toward the human interaction suggests doesn't have natural predators in it's environment as it hasn't been conditioned to fight or flee in their presence. That may also explain how it was able to evolve to such a large species as well.:2 cents:

Yep. That's why most animals (that would be prey) in captivity that have been indirectly conditioned to not fear human interaction cannot or are not ever placed in the wild.

Sort of like the animated movie Madagascar when zoo animals wanted to go to the wild and found themselves out of place.
