If its a gas giant isnt the solid body of Jupiter small , is this a crater or an atmosphere disturbance? If so it wont be a scar for long the winds on Jupiter will get rid of it soon enough , I was more impressed by the comets hitting it a few years back

Wow, they did not see something that big coming. It could have hit earth and nobody would be expecting it. We would all be dead like the dinosaurs.

Maybe not, I've herd the object that impacted Jupiter might have been a few hundred meters across. The meteorite that is believed to cause the extinction of the dinosaurs around 62 million years ago is believe to be 10km across so it would have been 20 times bigger. Still having meteorite hit the Earth that is hundreds of meters across at about 24km a second could be pretty bad.
