im not 100% computer illiterate i know most things and/or can usually figure them out,but i have no idea what to do to get DL and play an Rar file/video
is it even a good thing to do is another question?
thanks in advance

.rar files are compressed like winzip files....you need a .rar tool to decompress the files.

You probably have to unpack it, download 7-Zip or a program similar and you should be able to extract whatever files are contained within.

I use winrar for all my rar files. When finished downloading just go into where your downloads are kept, double click on what you just downloaded, then go down to where it says EXTRACT HERE and click, and away you go.

^ What he said. You can get win-rar here: http://download.cnet.com/WinRAR-32-bit/3000-2250_4-10007677.html and just follow the set-up process

The only thing that sucks is you supposedly have to delete it from your computer after a month or something or you may face legal troubles/licensing issues or something like that.

They're probably bullshitting though, I've had it for years and haven't had any problems

thank you to all who replied
i will try what is posted, hopefully it works out

7-Zip = problem solved.

7-zip is the easiest tool in the universe to extract .Rar & zip files.

FYI, make sure you scan all .Rar files for viruses or any lingering surprises.

You always need a good unzipping program.. to unzip all those pron files

hehe, that's news to me, lol.

Officially they only give you a 30 day trial download, so I guess that's where said warning might come from.

The app works fine after the 30 days though, save for the fact that you get a really annoying pop up about entering a license key and registering.
You can simply cancel that though, and use the app without any problems.
