I have 2 hours in the car to kill so I thought I'd clear up a few things about how I think the US would be much better. First of all, I will piss off both sides left and right. Secondly I will piss off a few on the right more than the rest because they are as hard-headed as it gets and refuse to consider any other way of thought, even though their way is failing and dying daily.
So let's start with welfare. Too many Americans are on welfare. 90 million americans pay taxes and that means every 7 tax payers support a person on welfare/assistance. A big part of that is the fact that wages are low and many people working full-time still qualify for assistance. One way to fix a big part of this is in my next section. Welfare doesn't provide enough to live on for a month so that old myth that everyone is just living off of the tax payer tit is bullshit. Its also bullshit that there is no incentive to get a job when you get welfare. That's because its not nearly enough to survive on. So my answer is that everyone who is physically capable has to do community service to get their welfare and for that they get minimum wage which will be in the next section also. So you'll man a toll booth or work at a government day care or a school or at an amtrak station, the parks service or load post office trucks, whatever. But to get your welfare/assistance you have to be doing community service.
I would make it a law that the minimum wage has to increase with inflation. If that were a law now minimum wage would be $22 hour. If we had a wage that matched the increase in the cost of living we would cut more than 72% of the people getting welfare today. The working poor are the biggest part of the US today. They don't have money to put back into the economy and they are a paycheck away from bankruptcy which is no good for anyone. People say that it would make everything cost too much but again, if it was raised along with increasing in living costs it would not affect businesses.
The defense budget should never exceed domestic spending should be made into a law.
Companies that outsource should be penalized not rewarded with tax breaks.
All companies should pay taxes. Companies like Verizon that make $400 million in profit but don't pay any taxes is bullshit. GE got money back. Fuck that.
Power companies should not be privatized and for-profit.
Same goes for the prison system.
Driver's license for anyone under 18 should depend on your grades. If you aren't passing you can't drive.
Anyone making more than $500k a year should pay 55% of their income in federal taxes. No loop holes or deductions or write offs. If you make more than $10 millon a year its goes to 60%. If you make less than household $75k you pay no taxes.
Anyone working over 40 hours must be paid hourly wages no matter if they are a salary employee. That includes working at home. Only if they make more than $150k a year does it not apply.
Felons who are not on parole or in prison can vote.
Churches pay taxes on real estate.
if churches contribute to politicians or political agendas in ANY way they pay taxes on every penny.
Health care should be cost-free to all americans. if you have money and want private health care, you're welcome to pay for it.
college education at any state school should be free like it was in California until Reagan nixed it.
banks should be regulated for interest rates on credit card interest rates with a cap.
torture should be legal in any situation where there is a reasonable belief that information can be obtained.
the death penalty should be brutal and immediate in any situation where there is a confession and unanimous guilty vote. nothing humane.
any crime against a child should be punishable by death.
any crime against an animal should be the same as a crime against a person.
there should be a DOJ that has as much funding as any other brand of government and the prosecution of corporate crime should be a priority.
hiring illegal immigrants should be punished with public shaming as well as enormous fines.
all illegals should be given the path to citizenship with now, but any further will require application like every other country.
all illegals must learn english to become a citizen.
