How TF is someone supposed to actually *COLLECT* unemployment?

Here in Florida was an easy enough process. The online application was simple and they verified some info I provided and then started paying me. The first week of unemployment doesn't get paid though...their "wait" period they call it.

I did the unemployment process over the phone. I called the office at which point they set up a hearing date so that they could determine if I was eligible with my severance pay. After that was over with I just go online each Sunday and check the appropriate boxes, I usually get my unemployment check on Tuesday. This is how it's done in Connecticut, I don't know if it's the same in other states.

That sounds an awful lot like how WI did it back in the day. I'm not sure if they still do, since I've been gainfully employed (in NJ) for nearly 5 years.

As always PF is putting words in my mouth and using a hypothetical situation that doesn't exist to justify his point.

You know you'd make a great politician. since you seem to "whine" about the government just as much as everyone and you always know the right answer or at least how to change the subject so that it fits your answer, why don't you become part of the government and do something about it? someone needs to save all those tragic millionaires from uncle Sam and the stupid masses.

Yeah Torre I collected once in New Jersey and they put me through hell.
Nothing but problems, they did everything thing they could to make just say fuck it.

Don't know where your at but in Nj you apply on line and wait for a telephone interview.
Then you should get it eventually. However if your former employer contests it, then a robot from the agency will have to decide if you get it or not, usually by another interview over the phone.
They also may want you to attend a few classes.
Good luck, don't stress too much.......you'll get it.

Being an entry-level millionaire isn't even enough to retire.
The overwhelming majority of millionaires are first generation and don't live much different than myself.
They live on less than most people they live next to in middle class neighborhoods, and they're just trying to save enough so they won't be a burden on society when they retire.
