/agree with L3ggy and D-Rock both.
When visiting my aforementioned friend, we usually take a weekend vacation to the beach, well away from both where she lives and were I live; we both live in small cities and people simply aren't open-minded enough.
Not that we really care what they think, but it's easier just not having to deal with the flack we'd catch...I mean she has kids who are my age living in her town who wouldn't understand, and my family who lives in my city would certainly hear about me being seen with her, and they wouldn't understand. It's the old "out of sight, out of mind" thing. Why deal with it when you don't have to.
Travel inconveniences aside, it's quite a kick walking into a beachfront resort and checking into a room together...and ask for a single bed. You should see the look on the faces of a couple of the desk clerks. :1orglaugh
But she's a terrific friend with a wonderful spirit, and an amazing lover. We would probably do very well in a straight relationship...but she's widowed and I am single and in the back of our minds we know it just isn't realistic. But we don't let that detract from having a great time. We don't think about where we'll be 10 years from now, we just enjoy what we have.
And that's really how you break the age barrier. Doesn't matter if you're older. Doesn't matter if they are. Race, body type, social class, same thing. Just roll with it. :2 cents:
