How has there not been a thread on Witcher 3!?

The game is really awesome, sure it's got some bugs and stuff (it's a pretty massive game). Anyone else playing it? I'm almost done with the main story, I just need to gain one more level to get my master witcher armor crap but I'm out of quests before finishing the main one!! Help!!

It sounds like a great game but I could never really get used to the combat system in the Witcher 1 and 2 so I didn't get far in both games.
Perhaps I'll give it a try when it is on sale.

Unfortunately I never played the other Witcher games so I can't speak if the combat has remained the same (I'd imagine they didn't change a whole lot) but it is fun and while the combat was kind of frustrating at first I got used to it

Like Skyrim, I'm finding myself just traveling around unlocking the "?" on the map and looking for side quests than actually playing the main game. Witcher 3 is awesome and I love the open world aspect of it. I never played Witcher 1 because it's only on PC but I bought and played Witcher 2 after 3 was shown at E3. The only thing I don't like are the damn underwater controls, I keep getting killed by drowners because of them.

Combat system is basically the same as Witcher 2. I did notice that they mapped the buttons for Witcher 3 on the PS4 (I'd imagine the same for the Xbox One) differently than they had for Witcher 2 on the Xbox 360. I don't know about the PC versions of 2 and 3 but they probably aren't too different from each other.

I've beaten the game. It was fun but overall it didn't "wow" me like I was hoping. I think I've narrowed down the reasons for this:

1) Where are all the enemies for higher leveled people? I'm level 35 and can't find any new areas with enemies worthwhile!
2) The world is huge to be sure, but it doesn't feel like it. You run into inexplicable invisible walls that tell you to turn around since you've reached uncharted areas but yet you check the map and you're nowhere near an edge of the map. I also wish the world was more immersive, one of my favorite things I loved about Skyrim was it was an explorer's dream, this didn't really have that.
3) Kind of sub-point of 2 but I hated hated hated the Skellige map. Waaaay too many islands. I'm the type that likes to check everywhere and most of these islands had nothing on them at all but due to my gaming OCD of needing to check everything I tried to travel to them all and started realizing there was nothing. The other part of this in Skellige was there were too many Smugglers' Caches that also had useless items.
4) The main story is weak. Maybe this is because I never played Witchers 1 and 2 but since many will be playing this game with the third being their first I think this is important. A couple of the side-quests had better, more interesting stories. Just wasn't that impressed with the main story

From the points I'm making it sound like I didn't like the game, but I actually did. I just don't feel compelled to play it again (until the expansions come out probably). The side-quests were a lot of fun and many had plots to them. Combat, though taking some time to get used to, was fun too.

Overall, I give the game an 8 out of 10

I'm playing it again (New Game Plus) and in hindsight and after several updates the game has improved even more. There's a game of the year edition coming out and I recommend people pick it up

The expansions themselves are fantastic
