How do I delete a "friend" request?

I have had a friend request that I want to reject, I have clicked "Reject selected friend requests" and clicked save but the "Incoming Friend Request" remains, can someone please tell me how I remove it?

Did you put a check mark in the little box next to their avatar before saving the changes?
