How can the New Orleans Saints genuinely call themselves world champions?

I know you have to play teams outside your country to even be considered world champs nevermind the world , thats why the soccer world cup is called the world cup because the world is involved in it at somepoint , the tournament in the summer is really the grand finale of a competition that has been running for two years already

The only reason they call them self world champs is because no-one outside America gives a shit really

FIFA Club World Cup with :
-UEFA Champion's League Winner
-Copa Libertadores Winner (Copa Libertadoires = South American champion's League)
-CONCACAF Champion's League Winner (North & Central America)
-AF Champion's League (Asia)
-CAF Champion's League (Africa)
-OFC Champion's League Winner (Oceania)
-Champion of the organising country.

The 2009 final was Estudiantes (Argentina) VS Barcelona (Spain) and Barcelona won 2-1 on extra-time

So, if there' one team that can claim itself to be the World Champion, it's Barcelona, not Manchester

Pros call it world championships because they are paid athletes playing against the best players in the world at their sports.
There are foreign players playing in the NFL so it is a world sport played in 1 nation.

College players call it national championships because they are not paid...well most aren't.

By your definition, if there are any pro teams anywhere that didn't play in the limited playoff games then the title of FIFA Club World Cup Champs is bogus and shows a silly inferiority complex unfixable...did they beat Manchester? They are more like the 3rd World Champs, more likely.

Being the only pro league for American football, as well as the largest sports league of any kind in the world, it makes sense that the Saints can call themselves the world champions; they won the highest competition of their sport. By your logic, the winner of the FIFA World Cup is not a world champion, because there are comeptitive teams in the world that do not get a chance to play in the World Cup.

No because FIFA World club championship works like this , Win home league or get a qualifacation place for the champions league , win champions league , proving you are the best in Europe then you qualify for the World Club Championship , same in Asia , S.America etc.....

Winning this makes you the best club team in the world......

Winning the world cup means you are the best country in the world
