Yeah, seriously... injury or not, tournaments or not, she was ranked inside the top 100 women in the world for a time. She reached the Quarter Finals (or was it the Semis) of Wimbledon once... she may never have won anything or been as good as the Williamses, the Capriatis and the Hingis types, but she was one of the best 100 female tennis players in the WORLD... compared to Naviratilova she may be nothing, but compared to 99.999999% of all female tennis players, professional and amateur, she's fantastic.
I'm not even a Kournikova fan, but the girl got famous playing tennis... that's how she got noticed, and if she wasn't a PROFESSIONAL, well paid tennis player, she'd never have gotten the exposure to get the modelling and music video and mole removal gigs.
